The EcoBoost IS tuned for 91 octane. It de-tunes for cheap gas(87). There is no way you gain 100hp, by adjusting timing, changing fuel mixture, eliminating the knock sensor and deleting the rev limiter. The engine max hp never changes, it just makes it differently. The turbo boost can't be changed electronically. It runs off the exhaust. It can only boost and fast as its driven. The stock, single exhaust, can not support such HP. In the Mustang the 'Boss" engine makes more power, from a different intake. I think you need to do some more research. Look at the dyno graphs on 5 Star website showing the gains. I’m pushing 19.7 lbs of boost easily with it sometimes getting into the low 20s. Nonsense, I own 3 vehicles and a Harley. I have researched this. I actually own a performance car(Mustang GT, plenty info on them), not like these wannabe, suv Hot Rodders. I am not bashing anyone. But calling out ridiculous post, stating 100-325hp gains form tuning. Mustang owners, love how there car drives after tuning. The engines are not making that much more hp. The HP wars between Ford and Chevy, have squeezed every bit out of these engines. No way they are leaving untapped power behind. My 2011 GT 5.0l uses/requires 91 octane. Its factory tuned for it. My Lincoln 32V 4.6l uses 91. Both will de-tune for 87 octane. It has been covered numerous times in this forum, that the ecoBoost recommends, 91 or higher for towing and advertised power. Ford lied to buyers, with HP/Torq rating. On 87 pump gas, its way lower.@rjdelp7 are you one of those ppl that don’t have nice things like other ppl and every time someone says something or does something to their truck that you can’t do or afford you bash them in jealousy?

How is this 'boost' accomplished? The 2 stage, turbos on these engines, are very small in diameter. This was intentional, to eliminate lag. They can only push, so much air and spin, so fast. Its a stock, factory V6, in a large SUV. Why are you pushing the limits on it? You actually made a video, beating the piss out of it? Its not a sports car.I think you need to do some more research. Your right I am jealous...of your V6 Expedition? That's funny! I never would consider buying one. That is why I kept my reliable 1st gen, work horse so long. Go look at 3.5L and even 2.7s F150s being tuned and how much some of these engines are gaining. The 2.5 bar MAP sensors can handle up to 21.5psi of boost. Stock these things are only pushing 11-12. Like I’ve said I’m easily in 18-19 range daily driving on occasion in the very low 20s. And like I’ve said also, go research how they increase the boost for added power. CAI (installed), turbo adapters, downpipes and custom exhaust are soon to be on my truck as well which will only add more power.Your right I am jealous...of your V6 Expedition? That's funny! Don’t know anyone who is jealous of a used V6 Expedition but ok. A 1st gen Expedition isn’t a real one? News to me.

i recently purchased my ‘18 Limited Max. It has the eco boost 375or so hp engine. To my understanding, the platinum comes with a “tuned 400 hp” engine. Is it possible to tune my 375 hp engine up to 400 hp? Has anyone done this?

Probably low to mid 300s to the wheel as several dynos have shown there is roughly a 20% loss in power from engine to the wheelsYou’ll be able to tune it over 400 hp with a reputable company and reliably. As you can see your thread turned into a battle ground. Ford lightly turns up the tune for Platinum models but not much performance will be felt as they are the heaviest of the pack. Tuning can result in impressive gains, call up or email 5Star and I’m sure they’d explain it to you in detail.
Tuning can do a lot to change it up. When my dad took delivery of his last Super Duty 6.2L in 2011 the ECM was bad out of the box. The dealer replaced it under warranty of course and added the aggressive raptor tuning and shift schedule (he knows the guys). They said it went from 385 to 400 horsepower but the entire mapping was more aggressive and the thing flew. They couldn’t bring it up to raptor specs because it used a more aggressive camshaft in F-150 6.2 engines. You can do a lot with tuning, and it involves a lot more than just more power. They can adjust shifts, firmness, etc. it’s cool stuff.
