Howdy All

Just picked up a 2010 King Ranch and I'm trying to program the Homelink Garage door buttons with a Chamerlin Whisper Quiet Drive.

Nothing seems to work: I've tried programming it to a remote (doesn't work) as well as trying to hit the LEARN button on the opener itself (also no luck.)

The LEDs by the buttons inside the truck do light up so there's power there.

I have cleared out all the old codes on the HomeLink buttons and still nothing.

Any suggestions?

I can offer no help as we've never used the home link. For the fear of in the case the vehicle is stolen the thief's would have access to your home.

i had some issues with my 13 f150, but the 16 expy seemed to work.
I did have to go the homelink website and download the detailed instructions to get to play nice with my chamberlain product.

IIRC it involved one leg in the air, tongue out pointing west, spinning a quarter on the fender and pressing the learn button all within 15 seconds, NOT really but felt like it

My opener has the IQ thingy so you dont have to climb on a ladder to press the learn on the opener.
but getting the homelink on the visor to do the flashy thing sometimes takes a longer time than they prescribe in the book. it takes patience

a few months back we kept loosing the load and it turned out to be the wall remote....

i understand some folks fear of a thief having access to your house, which is a possibility. I mitigate that by not carrying my registration in the car (texas its not required, for that very reason. car thieves would use it to umm pay you a visit) and my HOME address in the nav system is about 5 miles away form my actual home. so i have a few hours to delete remotes.

depending on how new your liftmaster is the homelink does not work and you will need an adapter. Ours did not work with the newer improved security features liftmaster has added. If you call the liftmaster people they can tell you quickly if they will work together.

Well I spent the last 1.5 hours trying to get this stupid button to work and...nothing. I've gone to the Chamberlain website, got the model number, went to the Homelink website, followed all the directions for that specific model and I got nothing.

Not sure where I'll go from here but I'll keep the group posted.

The '16 system is not the same as his '10 system. His '10 system is most likely obsolete.

Isn’t Homelink just the little garage door opener buttons on the visor or is that not homelink? It’s no different than just putting a garage door remote on your visor. If that’s the case it’s been the same for a decade now...

I was just wondering the same thing. If it is, I could never get it to work either. Still just use the remote, easy enough.

You need a converter. The homelink used in the 2010 won't work with the newer secure garage door openers. I had this same problem with my 10 F150 and 05 envoy at my new house. I purchased the $40 converter thingy that plugs into a power outlet in your garage and has its own pairing remote. You pair your homelink with the remote that comes with the adapter and it translate it to the high security your opener requires.

My 17 expedition and 15 Malibu are able to run the new opener with their integrated homelink just fine. I think the change over happened in vehicle systems in 14 or 15. Be aware that if you get the adapter thingy it reduces your range and often we'd have to be in the driveway for it to work.....

Oh that was a pain to program. I have a '08 King Ranch and my garage doors are probably 30 years old but I did finally get 2 of the doors working.
To be honest I cant remember how I got it to work. But seems like the owners manual told how to do it wrong.

Oh, I think I had to press a button on the door opener motor to transmit a signal.

So I now have a '17 Platinum and this video did it for me. Nothing in the owners manual worked.

Press both outer buttons till rapid blinking on visor. This erases the previous doors someone may have used.
I held my Genie remote opener up close to visor. Press the button you want programmed on visor and at the same time hold your remote button down till the visor led flashes fast.
Now go to your door opener and press the learn button and it and it will start flashing.
Now go press the button you pressed first on visor 3 times.
When I pressed it the 3rd time the garage door worked.

The drivers visor on my '07 would not stay up and I had to replace the whole visor inducing the HomeLink which I cut out of the scrap visor and wired and mounted it under the dash of another car. Worked for my last two houses, but not the current one. I'll be following this.

You need an updated homelink, I added homelink to my Ford focus and made sure it was HL4 version which is compatible with the security + garage doors. I would imagine you could just order the module aan replace it in your visor, it hasn't changed shape. In my focus, I added a home link auto dimming rear view mirror that came from a Nissan maxima. It cost me 85 dollars and a few feet of speaker wire to hook it to constant power for the opener and ignition power for the auto dim feature. One of the best upgrades I've done and looks completely factory original.
