I enjoy the throttle response and shifting while in sport. I also put it back into 2wd after sport mode is engaged. Makes it feel light on its feet, as well as one can with a 3+ ton vehicle anyhow.

If you are driving hard it works pretty damm well.

Take a right hand turn at an intersection where you can see clearly there is no traffic and you plan not to come to a stop as you make a right. (I know illegal, but for our purposes a great way to illustrate whats going on)

In scenario A, you gently brake as you approach the intersection but the transmission is dropping gears fast keeping the rpms over 4k so massive engine braking effect, fast shifts are exacerbating the problem with "clunky" changes and agreed 5,4 and 3 are nasty gear changes

In scenario B we are driving like we stole it, on the gas up to the last millisecond before hard on the brakes, front end nose diving hard, and the transmission is now assisting the brakes, keeping the rpms up so that as I clip the apex and apply power the transmission is in the right gear, engine is over 4K, turbos are spooled up fully and I am applying power to drive out of the curve I am making around the intersection.

In scenario B it's almost probably the best auto box I've driven for anticipating the gear needed, leveraging engine braking and being ready to go as I exit a curve. And it's pretty good at sensing rear tire breakaway under hard braking and easing off on the engine braking by giving it a bit of gas which is hard to do for us mere mortals while braking hard.

If you like the throttle response in Sport mode, get a Pedal Commander. It doesn’t add any power, but it sure makes the Expedition feel quick! I got one for my 17 F150 last March and love it. So while the wife signed the paperwork on her Expedition I ordered a Pedal Commander off Amazon for it!

And here I thought I was young and tech savvy... I’ve never heard of this but it looks interesting. I’m not sure how I feel about having something g plugged in between the throttle and the ECM.
