The cars computer wont allow the starter to turn without the transponder chip within close proximity. You'll have to get a new key made and programmed

That's what I thought.I can get a new switch with keys pretty cheap but I still need to program them before I can go anyplace.

Most locksmiths can make a key and program your truck to accept it. They charge about $100. You may find one who will come to you and do the job. Or if you buy a good "Ford enhanced" scanner like "Auto Enginuity," you can program it yourself.

Chain hardware stores and places like Walmart also sell "clone keys" which are programmed to mimic the single key you have. Since the keys in that case are programmed and not the truck, those keys use a battery and if the key battery dies the key stops working. They cost $50 here in New York.

Ya might want to make that copy now! You never know when the dog grabs it, and that wouldn't be pretty trying to retrieve. Every seen gone in 60 seconds?

Walmart will cut a key and program it to one of the originals for around $35.00
