I have a 2019 expedition and I am trying to install a rear seat entertainment system in the headrests. From searching it sounds like I need connect to 12v switched power supply, but I am unsure how/where the best place to do this is. The connection that comes with the unit looks like it plugs in somewhere, but most of the videos I have seen have people splicing and connecting the wires. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated. I included a picture of the connectors that come from the entertainment system that should connect to the car somewhere.

The 2019 wiring diagrams are not available to me online now. I'm looking at the 2018 which are, which trim model is your Expy? You may be able to install a branch circuit off the driver seat module. Just need to know what you have in order to compare the diagrams to hopefully what you have.

The 2018 shows a "Family Entertainment Relay" that is "hot in run". Unfortunately the software doesn't show component locations of that relay. Your local dealer may be able to help with that.

This is an aftermarket headrest system: Audiovox HR8. Its a 2019 Platinum model expedition. Couldnt find any that had the towing package and rear entertainment, so i thought i would take a shot at installing the RSE myself. That would be great if there is already a switched power supply. otherwise there is a 12V cigarette lighter outlet in the center console that looks reasonable to access using some T-tap quick connectors. it appears to be switched. The only potential issue I could see with the drivers seat module is that is always "hot," even with the ignition off, so the RSE could be in use when the ignition is off and kill the battery, which my kids would undoubtedly do.

Although mine is a '17, I used a fuse tap at the interior fuse box. Switched power

The radio fuse. I used a fuse tap from auto parts store. My headrest dvd's only have power when in "acc" or "on"

Mine is a 17.Are all the fuses on inside fuse box switched ?
I discovered with a voltmeter that most of the interior fuses were constant power. I finally realized that since the radio only runs in acc and "on" that the fuse for it must be switched.

But the radio will run with the key in the off position granted only for a short period of time or until the door is opened.
