Factory DVD or aftermarket

Ok so ford play sounds like a solution here. My wife could run that on trips pretty easy if we load one before taking off or have an Sd card. Or maybe change dvds on the fly...

that is if it works. That last post makes it sound like it isn’t working anymore?

is this like ford pass or whatever you have to pay to use after the first year?

Sounds like the app works fine. Unfortunately, the app is not currently available in the App Store. Not sure why.
FordPass is something else entirely. I have it. And it is free—not just for the first year.

info for ford play app. You might try contacting them. I see it’s no longer in the App Store but still lives and works on my devices. Hopefully they are coming out with something new and improved.

Lincoln is the same system just bigger screens and NO physical DVD player so worse. It all has to be on a usb or SD card.

You can always use an HDMI adapter for your phone and mirror it to the screens. The Lincoln comes with the Apple adapter and HDMI cable. I guess that’s their gift to you for not including an essential part of the system haha.

We have the factory installed rear DVD system. Big disappointment for $2K Ford charges. You have to insert DVD's into the headrest; in other car makes you install the DVD into the dash. No way to control from the drivers seat. Have to control from the rear. In order to play sound through speakers in the car, have to connect via blue tooth. And every time the engine is shut off, connection is lost. Other makes of cars have direct input to car's audio system. That's the biggest pain. And when DVD is in the player, it continues to play even when the screen isn't turned on. So kids lose their place in the movie all the time. Ford markets the Expedition as a great family vehicle, but comes up way short with the Rear ES.

I installed my own aftermarket system. 2 headrest DVDs and a flip down for the 3rd row. All in for less than $600.
