So I’ve read and searched and it seems every diy kit needs 2 factory remotes. I purchased it used and to the best of my knowledge the 1 key we got with it is factory. The second was made in a van in a parking lot, lol. What are my options.... again looking for DIY. I don’t want to pay a audio shop but the Warden is getting tired of no remote start and I (the current remote start) am not always available.

Thanks Gents, Rye.

I added remote start myself by buying keys off Amazon and having the dealership add them to the truck. I think went into Forscan (there is a thread in the Forscan portion of the forum) and added the remote start. You have to get the keys with the remote start buttons.

Yeah I added the remote start to my 2017 as well with keys from amazon, around $45 I think. Then enable it with forscan. No need to buy a kit when truck alrdy has it.

Yup buy the remote start key.
Program the key in Forscan and turn on remote start in ForScan as well.

You now have 2 keys. You want 2 with remote start buy 2 remote start keys. Keep the original as a spare.

KeylessOption Keyless Entry... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0184O6PFW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

OHP ELMconfig Forscan OBD2 Adapter with MS-Can & HS-Can Switch for Ford DIY Diagnostics on Windows https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F0GVBWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_vEuMifCHrt2oy

Buy this pair of keys, the obd2 USB adapter, read up about it on forscan. Just get the keys cut at Home Depot or local locksmith and program to the truck yourself. You’ll save a bunch of cash and get some new cool diagnostic abilities out of it for “free”

Go read the ForScan thread. It is long but a wealth of knowledge.
ForScan is a bit scary at first but it is not bad. Of course I only copy what others have done and verified.
Some of the folks on here are smart as can be to figure this stuff out and they are to be thanked!!
