Ugh. This argument. I see it all the time on Make/Brand specific forums when people simply can’t admit that a brand they are loyal to has a shortcoming (not saying that’s the case with you btw).
Nobody NEEDS anything other than 4 wheels, doors a roof and controls.
EVERYTHING beyond that is “nice to have” and compared to the competitors not having this particular feature is a limitation.
Another example...Drove 3 hours today out of terrestrial radio range and had to manually move from each XM preset/favorites page to the next (not to mention being limited to 18 preset stations out of 300). Do I NEED to be able to scroll through all my presets without having to take my hand off the wheel? Do I NEED more than 18 presets out of 300 stations? No. Should the function be available like it is on many competitors vehicles? Hell ya.
/rant off and no offense meant. I do get what you are saying.
Cary...I totally get it. I definitely love all of the amenities of my Expy, and it does seem a little short-sighted that you can't see the presumed speed-limit on the main dash. Pretty dang silly given all of the toys / options in these buggers.
That being said, I should reveal that I'm not really what you'd call a "Ford Guy." In fact, it took a bit of OCD research to convince myself that I wanted the Expy over the Tahoe / Suburban / Yukon. Pretty much been a GM guy my whole life. However, in the last 20 years, I've owned just about everything "American Made" ...and actually have a propensity for Honda's (in spite of all that). If Honda made a(n actual) full-size SUV that could tow 8500#+ pounds, that's probably what would be sitting in my driveway. Literally through 10-15 Honda vehicles among my immediately family members, there hasn't been a single major issue (aside from the really crappy air-conditioning Honda keeps AND keeps-on using). Probably close to 5 million miles on Honda's trouble-free since the mid-70's. (For context, my family ran a Harley / Honda motorcycle franchise for a lot of years ...hence our propensity for owning Honda's.)
Anyway...I love my '19 Expy and don't think there's anything out there I'd want in it's place. Hopefully a Sync update will get the 4th-gen Expeditions doing what your F350 does (BTW - I'm jealous you own both a late-model Expy AND an F-350!!!
