Rear Seat Entertainment RSE Monitor Issue

We have a 2018 Platinum Max with the OEM Rear seat entertainment and are having issues with the passenger side monitor (Evo 0) not turning on. We have tried the reset by holding the power button on the monitor for 5 seconds but nothing, we tried the Sync reset as well well holding the skip >> and power and nothing.

It does work on occasion but for no reason may stop working the next time you start the car. If it turns on it will stay on until we turn the car off, but when we start the car again we never know if the monitor will work or not. Please help!!!

Yes the blue power button is lit up.

I have the the navigator system.

The passagner side monitor gets the signal from the driver side monitor via this cable.

Usually when this cable gets disconnected all the buttons will flash.
Maybe your backlight is going out.
Take a flashlight to the screen and look very closely at the screen. It may actually be working but the backlight is out.

Thank you so much for the details. The buttons are not flashing so I don't think that cable has come loose. I will check the screen when I get home to see if the backlight has died. Any idea on what that repair would cost from the dealer? Looking to possibly buy an extended warranty now if this one went out.

The stealer ship will not fix your monitor, they will glady sell u a new screen for sure. Either way it is going to cost some $ if you go that route.

I will get you part number off my monitor and find you a screen on ebay.

I would think if you can use a phillps screw driver, the repair could cost 3 bucks if you can put in a new backlight bulb in or under 50.00 for a new screen.

Thank you so much for the detail/part number for the screen. I'll need to check how I take the unit apart and the screen tonight and let you know what I find. Hopefully taking it apart is straight forward.

You can try holding the power button down until they hard reset but other than that the passenger one usually works after the restart.

Here we go. Found a $74 solution to RSE when the kids want to watch a dvd. Yes. It’s literally a cheap DVD monitor combo.

If the hard reset is holding the power button down for 5+ seconds I've done that with no success (On the passenger screen that is blank). If a full car restart works on occasion I am wondering if its the screen or bulb at all or if it some other type of glitch.

I will give this a shot next thank you very much. I could swear that the troubleshooting section on the RSE manual did not say which monitor do that on so I am glad people here know what the heck they are doing.

Just curious, did you ever get this working? I have the exact same issue on my 2018 Exp Max (passenger side, light on, screen is dark). I'm not sure how to even remove the unit to inspect/replace it.

Yes it started working again and not sure how or what caused it. Sorry, I wish I knew what happened so I could let you know what fixed it or if it was just a random issue.

My passenger side monitor is also freaking out. Glitches , turns off, sometimes just flashes.
The dealership is scheduling a third party repair covered by my extended warranty.
It’s not a Ford system so that have to contract that out.

Odd. My passenger side same thing; glitches on/off, sometimes works but rarely does, lights flash red.

I have the same issue. Does seem to get fixed after restart (or twice) but is annoying and expect it to work well.
