I was going to put the sender in the stock "sender" location but the threads on the stock sender are a 14mm metric pipe thread which needs to adapt to a 1/8" NPT. I couldn't find that adapter and tried to cut the straight 14mm down for an about an hour to get it to work but was afraid to mess up the threads on the filter housing so I am going to a filter sandwich method and I will post the whole installation in about a week. You need tiny hands to mount it all direct up in behind the filter and only if you can find the right adapter. Here are some pictures for now;

Nice work trying to do this yourself. I’m lucky enough to have an actual readout on my tuner I have

Keep us posted on this! What brand gauge did you go with, and where are you going to mount it?

I will, I bought an electric gauge from China (hate to admit it). The fitting that goes into the engine was a straight thread 14MM but the stock sender/switch has a 14MM pipe thread so after 2 hours of grinding it down (shown) and trying to install it I gave up on it. The only filter sandwich I found without the oil cooler ports was in China but they lied and said they had U.S. warehouses so I am waiting again but I will do a full write-up with pictures when the slow boat from China arrives. It will be mounted under the dash by my right knee.

Thanks! Might do a gauge pod when I do mine, then I can also mount a trans temp gauge. All it takes is money...
