Been a member for a while but I come here more to read and get informed. Have owned two Expys in the past. I am however new to this current generation. Have a quick question. We are looking at a 2018 Expedition XLT w/equip package 202a with remote start. White Platinum Tri-coat paint. It is 4x2. Leather seats. Has BLIS w/trailer monitoring, connectivity package. Has about 33k miles on it. It is Ford Gold certified. Dealer is asking $47,997 before negotiating. Does this sound like a reasonable deal? I know dealers aren’t moving much on price currently but this is one of the more reasonably priced ones I’ve seen lately. Thanks in advance!

48k...? For an xlt? For a 2018 with 30k miles? Naw my man walk and go brand new. You could negotiate a low level ltd in the mid 50s. It's about to be memorial day, im sure there will be good rebates on new expys.

It's a difficult market right now with all the production shortages - new and used purchasing.

New - friend has been delayed on their new expedition platinum by 2.5 months. His lease is WAY over on an Escalade.

Used - Pricing is extremely high right now, given the shortage of new vehicles in the market. You are really only making out if you are selling an extra vehicle.

Is the price really high in general - definitely. Is it unheard of given the current market shortage? Unfortunately, no.

I'd have to agree. $48k for an XLT with 33K miles? I'd say it's high. I guess my 18 Platinum with 25k miles must be worth $60k at that pricing! Actually, KBB puts mine at $65,500 fair purchase price, $66,500 certified. Dang! Any buyers for $68,000?

From my experience, I'm very happy with my 2018. No issues. Like I said before, I think I got a good one. I'd look at the history on Carfax to see what problems the previous owner may have had...or not. Even see if the dealer can pull service history.

Thanks for all the input. We are going to pass on that used one. Found a new 2020 model that we are looking at and with a private offer I just got from Ford for $3000 off on top of the other incentives of a new Expy we are getting numbers run now. It’s the rapid red and the wife isn’t crazy about that, but in this crazy market the rebates are going to do the talking and we/she can make the color work.

Sounds high, but today’s market is kinda crazy. In fall of 2019 bought a 2018 limited with 42000 miles for 50k. Now have 57000 miles and happy with it. Did have to replace front shocks at around 50000 miles.

I’m not sure what part of Virginia you’re from, but Solomon Ford in Brownsville, PA had a nicely equipped XLT on the showroom floor just last week. I believe $54k.

When i was shopping both new and used, I found the Red color at a 2-4K savings vs. the base colors. Definitely worth it given the savings and current market. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a bigger gap in pricing vs. standard colors. Even though its tough to find inventory, many spending 50K+ will be firm on what colors work for them.
