Going in for laundry list of issues, is this normal?

We really LOVE this car. It replaced a 14 Escalade that had its share of issues, but honestly my current repair list is getting long after only a year and 14k miles. We ran an oasis report on the car thru the dealer and it had never been in for warranty work before our purchase (was CPO, we added warranty on top of that). They did brakes and wheel bearings and running board motors when they certified it.

2018 Max Platinum 4WD, has Ford Premium Care to 140k miles. Bought it with 60k miles a year ago, Currently at 74k

Dealer was booked out almost a month for repairs so I scheduled it awhile ago and dropped it off last night

1) recurring coolant consumption, they checked it last fall, could not find anything, I’ve added coolant several times totaling Appx 1 gallon since then. Having to carry a gallon of coolant on our family vacation from MI to FL was pretty lame feeling LOL

2 Vehicle has a very bad surge when it’s cold and it seems to be happening almost all the time now when we drive it. We had it re-flashed for the cam phaser TSB and I’m wondering if it has something to do with that. Wastegates both rattle pretty loud, could it be play in those mechanisms causing uneven accel? We did plugs and air filter at last oil change.

3). panoramic moonroof is making grinding noises when we try to open or close it. Had to help it to get it closed last time. I read about the lift arms, hoping it’s a “simple repair” like that and not a complete sunroof track replacement.

4 Rear wiper stopped working, halfway across the lift glass

5 Power tilt steering is jammed in the lowest setting (I can hardly get my legs under the wheel

6 Passenger running board randomly won’t go up. Motor was replaced 15k miles ago on both running boards

7 Rear brake caliper sticking intermittently

8 Pass mirror does the “click” thing when changing seat memory and I wrote the TSB down for reflash.

Kind of frustrating to have a list this long of stupid stuff that’s wrong with this car when we’ve only put 14k miles on it, thankful we’ve got the extended warranty, but really hoping they can address items 1-3 and get them fixed for good.

Not sure what I’d even replace the vehicle with at this point, we spent $60k buying it and I just can’t bring myself to spend $85k buying a new one just to haul 3 kids around in….

Number 8 can be fixed with a TSB or some software update. Someone here will chime in. Mine does it once in a while. Easy fix.

Man, I feel for you. I’ve got a 2018 Max Limited purchased Gold Certified with about the same mileage now and when purchased. So far, I’ve found lubing the running board hinge spots every other month is key or they anti trap when binding. As far as the coolant leak, I had the same and the water pump leaked but only under pressure hot. I’ve changed all the fluids, spark plugs and filters and the truck has been great but I also had both turbos replaced for the rattling wastegates as well as on a third set of cam phasers and the oil pan was replaced and resealed since the early models are the few with the plastic pans. #8 is a software update that I also had done as well like others mentioned. As far as the sunroof, there is also a TSB if you Google it for a Ford specific specified lube for the seal and tracks as well as how to clean it. I did that on my own and got the grease from Amazon and it worked great. I really like the trucks capabilities that are hard to match and hoping with all that’s been done, I can get a few good years out of it. The main thing I worry is not much Ford does is an update that resolves the issue. They seem to be kicking the can down the road. Most people have had numerous repairs done but it’s the same parts replaced so it’s highly possible it will happen again.

1. My water pump failed around 150k.

3. I have a standard sunroof, not the pano, but the track failed several years ago. The track got destroyed and I had to remove the glass and manually move everything back into place so I could close the sunroof. I didn't feel it was worth repairing.

6. The power running boards on my truck have failed repeatedly. This is an extremely common problem that plagues all vehicles with these damn things.

7. My front caliper failed around 150k.

Generally speaking, I had a long list of repairs done under my CPO warranty - just over $15k worth.

Man that’s crazy, what all was done that hit $15k?

Wish me luck. I’ll keep y’all posted with their findings over the next couple of days.

It's been a few years, but off the top of my head:
- oil pan leak repaired
- front diff leak repaired
- idler pulley replaced
- both power running board assemblies replaced
- backup cam replaced
- nearly all components of front climate controlled seats replaced
- climate control display panel replaced
- 1 rear strut assembly replaced
- door keypad replaced

That's what I can remember. Might have been more.

I'm not gonna write out all that was done on my 2018 Plati, but suffice to say it has been extensive. Recently, they replaced bank 2 catalytic converter. I had to get my water pump changed along with both the rear main seal and front seals. They also tried to repair a rear pinion seal as it was leaking 3 times. Frustrating to say the least.
