Meanwhile, how many tries does it take you to get the door to stay closed? I've owned mine for 6 months now, and I'm down to 3 attempts before it successfully stays closed. Lol.

Hi: Just got a 2023 Ford Timberline, and am curious why there is no interior (from the driver's seat) release on the fuel filler door. First new car we've bought in a while, but all of our old cars had a release on the front console to unlock the fuel filler door. Any ideas why Ford didn't implement this? Or, conversely, why so many cars have it? Many thanks!
I've had a 1997, and currently a 2010 Eddie Bauer and neither had locking doors.

I'm not sure if there's protection for pouring something else in - there is a reason you have to use the special funnel to fill with a gas can so it's possible you can't pour anything in without the right spout...
You're correct. If you try to pour something in without the factory supplied funnel, whatever you are pouring in will run out on the ground.

Are you sure?? My 2018 Limited does NOT lock! I know this because my 5 year old grandson got in the habit of opening it (doors always locked) whenever he walked by. If it is supposed to lock I WILL fix it!!

It doesn't..... I fuel mine up on vacation all the time with the doors locked because I have all kinds of stuff in the car obviously. Fuel door always opens with doors locked, Ford isn't that Smart to engineer that.....

I have one...got it directly from Ford parts Department. Its called "Easy Fuel lock" with a key. I bought it because I've had people tried to siphon fuel out of my tank...although its very had to do I just didn't want them messing with my Expedition Limited....
