I like on page 2, under NOTICE about cleanliness. "any foreign material....can cause engine failure". Imagine getting your engine replaced and the knucklehead gets dirt, etc, in your new engine and it fails....again.

Can you imagine receiving this notice in the mail??? Oh, and only 3 days rental. What are you supposed to do between the time you get the letter, and it goes in?
You keep driving it until parts are in and ready to install.

I'd say they did not find this problem on their own, if they did, those engines would not have been installed in the first place. There MUST have been a number of vehicle engine failures. They then retraced the manufacturing process to determine the time frame where the machining errors occurred. I wonder if they truly know the scope of the problem.
That may be partially true but I haven’t actually seen many reports of the 3.5 failing for this reason. There are pull offs from assembly that go for testing. They found the manufacturing issue and fixed it so they then needed to go back and ensure impacted vehicles were also fixed.
This engine is their flagship, they cannot risk it being known to fail within x years. The F-150 sales would be impacted.

Woah! That was close. Our ‘24 Expedition Platinum arrived at the dealer on 9/27 (while we were negotiating) so I’m guessing that it was built during the second week of September since we are a short ride from Kentucky. (Chicago burbs) Hopefully this doesn’t get extended for cars built later than was specified. Thanks for posting.

Build date is at the bottom center of the window sticker and in the drivers door jam.

Wow.

1,612 vehicles x 17+ hours labor + engine + rental vehicle = expensive!
It should be expensive for the dealership after all these vehicles cost 40 50 60 70,000 now the least they could do is fix their **** ups

Considering the dealer is getting a long block and will need to strip the engine, remove it, move everything over, reinstall, rewire, replumb, startup and test, I'm not so sure 15-17 hours is enough. When I was racing it certainly took me more than that, but, then again, I was not trying to make a living at it and certainly was not rushing.

I would certainly be pissed if I had just bought a 70K - 90K new truck and then have to have it all torn apart, I guess better than having the engine fail 600 mile from home towing a trailer.

Window Sticker "build date" is typically about 7 days prior to OASIS Build Date, which is the official data point.

If your door jamb sticker shows 7/2023 or 8/2023 and you wish to immediately know if your Exp/Nav is among the affected population, contact your dealer and have them look up your vehicle's VIN in OASIS, which will directly show any CSP 23B62 involvement.

I have no breakdown of Exp/Nav versus F-150/HEV in the 1,612 units of affected population.

Good luck!
