Update: I’m driving the vehicle more now and fumes are again the same in the cabin. Vents clear out for a little then start oil smell or exhaust smell every 5-10 minutes of driving. Sometimes I’m stopped in my garage or plain open parking outside and the vents start to smell constant flow of oil, or fuel or exhaust fumes. I can’t tell wat it is but it’s very unpleasant.

I forgot to mention on my last post that when I replaced the filters and the engine filter was full of oil. The air intake had oil residue. Should this be the case or does this mean there is something wrong inside the engine?

This car doesn’t throw any codes wats so ever. It didn’t throw a code when they said it was very low on oil. It didn’t throw any codes prior to them replacing half of the engine. What’s the point of having a computer monitoring system then? Is it even working? Wtf

Scheduling an appointment soon with ford and I’ll be showing them all the issues in person. I won’t let them take the car and tell me they can’t find shit.

If I were here, you would know it !
Purchased a brand new 2023 ford expedition max limited all blacked out on Feb 2023. From the day I took it off the lot it was clunking, bad fumes coming from the vents brakes squeaking
So you bought it almost 2 years ago and you're just now complaining about these issues, which you say existed before you even drove it home...sorry if this sounds harsh, but.........w.T.f...?????

Anyways, good luck getting them fixed asap, I would be arranging to have my attorney ride to the stealership with you, the one where you bought it from, and let him speak (for you) to the General Manager in person...

I would also recommend wearing your size 14 Steel-toed boots & a can of oil, you know, just in case, hahahaha :)

Vehicle was bought Feb 2023. Not even a year yet. Clunks and in cabin fumes were present from the day I bought it. All the dealerships I’ve been to kept saying these issues will go away. They said this until the car has 20,000 miles on it. After the 20,000 miles they started resetting the trans for a total of 4 times at 4 different dealerships. The fumes they can’t replicate.

Good that you purchased that extended warranty. We called my former Expo the "Warranty Crusher". You can bet that if you hadn't, the stealership would have been able to replicate every problem under the sun when that clock turned 1 mile over the 36 K.

I cannot believe ford treats its customers like this. It’s not bad enough that they sold me a lemon and I can’t even drive the car too much because of all these issues it has but they refuse to fix it. I get it not all cars will be build perfect from the factory but when u sell a $80k defective car at the very least fix its issues so ur customer can be happy. But no ford wants to get away by saying they can’t replicate the issues and make u drive a broken new car. No sir this is not how this is going to play out with me. In my life I will never buy another ford due to this experience.

Vehicle is at the dealer again on the same issues. I hope they fix it because otherwise it will cost them a lot.

Dealer called me and asked to ride in with one of their techs. I go in and I start driving and I hear the knock towards the engine area when going over bumps tech doesn’t. I hear the clunks under my feet tech doesn’t. I ask him do you want to be on the drivers seat he says ok. He drives the car a bit rougher than me and the knocks and clunks are louder and I ask him did you hear this and that and he still denies. WOW. Now I’m being lied to my face. Basically this does dealer told me in my face we hear the issues but we are not going to fix them. Now I’ll get the evidence on video. Gopro here we go.

Simply because your vehicle is still in some sort of warranty, I guess. After your warranty expires, suddenly the tech would be able to hear everything you can hear.

Garbage is covered until 175,000. Paid the $5200 premium. Never know when you gonna need a $20k engine or $15k trans.

Today I started the vehicle and it’s smelling like fried wiring in the cabin. I put my code checker on and shows these 4 codes. Anyone know if any of these codes causes this smell?

Also under Mode 6 I see fail on purge flow monitor and couple others. Could this be the reason for the exhaust fumes entering the cabin?

There is check no engine light on and I just got the car back from the dealer on Wednesday. Today is Saturday. They lied to my face about the other issues and now the car has more issues after I took it back from the dealer.

The heated mirror codes could definitely be related to the electrical odor especially if some part of the circuit burned up. As far as the oil odor is concerned I'd circle back to the pcv system and air filter. The filter should not be loaded with oil.

It’s throwing a purge valve failure under MODE 6. Could this be the reason for the exhaust fumes entering the cabin?

I installed new filters after I found all that oil on them. I checked the filters after I got the car back from the dealer to make sure they’re the same ones as I marked them. Currently no oil residue on the filters but somehow some sort of exhaust or engine fumes enter the cabin frequently from the front vents only. It only lasts for around 15-30 seconds but frequently. I hope I don’t pass out one of these days and cause a very bad accident. I get headaches on the daily.

I really can’t believe this is happening in America and I’ve never in my life been in situation like this where a very large brand name doesn’t stand behind its product and make it right.

It's highly unlikely they purge valve is causing the smell. That is related to the charcoal canister on the fuel system evaporative emissions control and you've made no mention of fuel odors. Also the check engine light would most likely be on if you had a purge issue. It's not uncommon for cars to have what I call phantom fault codes. I saw this all the time at the dealer and most of your codes probably are this since you have no warning on. I would look for signs of leaks under the hood, especially around the manifolds and turbos since oil burning off brings odor to a much higher level. I'd also look for disconnected hoses.

Car is going in today to a different dealer. Based on my family and some customers I drove the smell is like mold not fried wires. The car is useless at the moment. I can’t work with it at all due to the mold smell.

How does this happen the day after I get the car from the dealer complaining about clunks and exhaust fumes which the dealer cannot replicate. I strongly believe at this point this was done by the dealer the car was at last time!
