At least they are voluntarily doing this instead of waiting for the engines to blow up.
I'd say they did not find this problem on their own, if they did, those engines would not have been installed in the first place. There MUST have been a number of vehicle engine failures. They then retraced the manufacturing process to determine the time frame where the machining errors occurred. I wonder if they truly know the scope of the problem. At least they are voluntarily doing this instead of waiting for the engines to blow up.
You keep driving it until parts are in and ready to install.I like on page 2, under NOTICE about cleanliness. "any foreign material....can cause engine failure". Imagine getting your engine replaced and the knucklehead gets dirt, etc, in your new engine and it fails....again.
Can you imagine receiving this notice in the mail??? Oh, and only 3 days rental. What are you supposed to do between the time you get the letter, and it goes in?
That may be partially true but I haven’t actually seen many reports of the 3.5 failing for this reason. There are pull offs from assembly that go for testing. They found the manufacturing issue and fixed it so they then needed to go back and ensure impacted vehicles were also fixed.I'd say they did not find this problem on their own, if they did, those engines would not have been installed in the first place. Block is the same. Yes.I'm assuming this is for both 3.5 EB and 3.5 HO EB, since they included Navigator.
Build date is at the bottom center of the window sticker and in the drivers door jam.Woah! That was close. Our ‘24 Expedition Platinum arrived at the dealer on 9/27 (while we were negotiating) so I’m guessing that it was built during the second week of September since we are a short ride from Kentucky. (Chicago burbs) Hopefully this doesn’t get extended for cars built later than was specified. Thanks for posting.
It should be expensive for the dealership after all these vehicles cost 40 50 60 70,000 now the least they could do is fix their **** upsWow.
1,612 vehicles x 17+ hours labor + engine + rental vehicle = expensive!
My BRAND NEW EXPEDTION has this issue, I only have 1500 miles on it can I get a refund?
