Just purchased a 2024 limited with 22” wheels and General tires. Get vibration starting at 70 mph steadily worsens up to 80 mph on turnpike. Service manager stated that all newer models are experiencing this problem but hasn’t got any feedback from ford. Did not have this problem with my 2019 with 20” tires

I'd recommend searching the 4th gen threads, there's a lot of open threads where people were able to find fixes for this.

My vehicle doesn't have this problem. The tires are Hankook Dynapro ATM

Was the vibration present during the pre-purchase test drive, or did it develop later?

How many miles on the vehicle?

Your service manager is just giving you the brush-off.

Thanks all (I am watching all feedback closely to get my Expedition’s vibration issue addressed) Preowned 2022 Expedtion Limited here - bought at 30,000 and local dealer put on 4 brand new Hankook tires - but there has been a vibration since week 1 of my pickup. Took it in after 3 weeks and their technician identified driver side rear tire needed to rebalanced and more weight added and switched rear left/right. Still vibrates way more than I would prefer - another appointment with dealer next week and will push for all 4 to be road force balanced if they can’t identify anything else since last service. Any comments are welcomed!

Hellwig - question for you? I have same 22” model tires. What year and model is your Expedition? Mine is 2021 Limited

Mine is 2024 xlt max black accent. It came with 20" Hankook AT tires.

I never say never, but I'd NEVER buy General Tires. They've been crap for decades IMHO. Just saying.

Had this issue with my ‘22 limited SPP, had a blowout with the generals a few weeks ago and replaced with Michelin LTX M/S2 & the vibration is finally gone. Have had it up around 90 and it’s totally smooth. My issue was probably sitting on the lot before being transferred and developed flat spots, was really hard to find road balancing near me and the only shop that did it helped but they couldn’t road test above the speed limit to confirm it was still there so wouldn’t warranty. I knew it was the tires all along which was aggravating but the generals were crap in winter weather too, expecting the Michelins to be a significant upgrade.

I honestly don't believe sitting in garage for several weeks has anything to do with the vibration. My travel trailer sitting in garage for 5 to 6 months straight in winter and spring. And I towed it last weekend, there is nothing wrong with the tires. This vibration problem is obviously a tire quality issue.

Sounds like a balancing issue to me. The problem is most of the techs doing the balancing are the low end oil & filter guys who simply put the tires and wheels on the computer balancers without proper training and zero knowledge about all the factors involved in balancing. They simply keep adding weights until the balancer says it's balanced instead of moving the 1st weights in the direction of the suggested additional weight which often times will then give a "balanced" reading. Understanding static and dynamic balance is important and they are clueless.

You can't expect a guy with $25 hourly rate to know that much.

A lot of good information here - thanks all! When I booked my next service appointment the dealer said they are equipped to do a road force balance, but my last visit shows they did a standard 4 wheel balance. The last 2 replies reminded me to look again at last service sheet - tech says he identified issue with LR tire and added 50oz (3.125lbs!) and vibration addressed. I just went outside and looked and there are 9 “1/2 FE”adhesive metal weights on that tire - looked those up on Amazon and they are 0.5oz each - jeez. Needless to say 3 of 4 tires have 9 weights each (fills up a huge section of tire). Welcome any further suggestions or tips? (have looked at older threads too - would love this to be as simple as dealer pull all 4 tires, inspects rim and pressure sensor install and reseal and remount with road force balance and done …)

If you’re tires are properly balanced check the shocks.

We have a ‘24 Platinum with 10k miles. No off roading, no big potholes hit, 6k of the miles were from a trip from IL to FL this winter. Several weeks ago we spotted oil on the garage floor just inside the right rear wheel. After putting it on my lift for an oil change it was obvious the right rear shock failed. Way too soon for normal wear and tear.

Just got it back from the dealer. The shock is on “National Back Order” and they don’t know when the “Emergency Order” will show up. Must be a lot of shocks failing. I wonder how they are building cars without a supply of shocks?

Sounds like you have a dealership who's people don't have a clue. That is a waaay to much weight. Find a local tire shop and see what they come up with.
