Alarm went off, was it a door handle? (UPDATE: Probably a large bug inside the car)

Our town has been hit with a string of thefts where the robbers check car doors and rob unlocked cars.

Last night, around midnight, my 24 expy alarm went off. My expy was locked so I am wondering what set the alarm off. Does pulling on a passenger side door handle set off the alarm?

(No windows broken, no impact marks)

By the time I got out there they were long gone, but on facebook I see other houses in the area were also hit.

You could park and arm the vehicle, then pull on a passenger side door handle to determine it that would set off the alarm.

Problem is, I would need to leave the key fob far from the truck to prevent it seeing it. Then when/if the alarm goes off I have to run for the fob to silence it. I'm trying to spare my neighbors than right now, since last night my truck woke everyone up at around midnight.

Maybe I'll try it elsewhere, like the parking lot at work.

Our alarm went off three different times over a week. Turned out there was a mouse inside setting off the internal motion detector. A large insect can do it too.

You're way too considerate! What's worse, waking them up at midnight or a minor disturbance during the day when most are up?

You may be a genius!

The wife and I got home about an hour before it went off. There was a large insect buzzing around inside the car, but we thought we had shooed it away. I guess it was still the truck.

This makes way more sense now.
Thanks!
