its missing on my 22 as well. I read somewhere that Ford actually stopped including it on these motors around pandemic times. But as stated its for aesthetics and sound reduction. You do not NEED it.

My 2024 doesn’t have an engine cover either. Unless you drive around with the hood open, nobody will see or miss it anyways…

My 22 timberline didn't come with one and I thought about adding one, like the raptor cover, but that 440hp engine gets pretty hot, so no cover to limit the heat.

My 2023 SPP didn't come with a cover so I got a "Raptor" one that fits perfectly. Correct, no one will see it but when I open the engine bay, it looks great. Pure vanity, totally cosmetic, but it is YOUR truck!!
I also purchased an engine cover for 2024 expedition , platinum.

I told the dealer that I wanted one on my special ordered 24 Max 4X limited. It came w/o one. Their parts dept could not get one. I owned a body shop for 40+ years so I checked with my guys and no can do. Not happy about it but what do you expect for 90+K.

Looks like the part is discontinued, and all remaining stock has been drained off. Even the equivalent Lincoln branded one.

I did find a few on eBay, but at crazy pricing.

I also found 4 used engine covers being sold by various breakers yards.

Even they are made in plastic, to me it’s just extra weight and waste of resources. Plus it makes me to remove and mount it again after an oil change. Not sure when Ford started with no engine covers on the Expedition, but my previous F150 with the Babystroke 3L diesel had one. Also the 19 Ranger has one too. Do I miss it? No.

Actually I see benefits not having one, as the cover doesn’t hold the heat down cooking the wiring harness and 2lb extra worth of plastic gone. As my Expedition Limited has the SPP, it surely should not have that cover anyway. Makes it go faster! LOL

there's valid points on all fronts. My thing is it's not removed "deleted" because of anything good. It's to reduce manufacturing costs, but did that reduce the cost every vehicle by $22? Nope.

The way I see it, is a pride thing. Look inside the hood of an $80k BMW, Genesis, Mercedes, even nicer Kia's these days (down in the $50K range), they have covers to dress up the engine compartment. Have a little pride in what you build. I can't stand looking at the massive plastic intake manifold, looks just as cheap as it is. Like plastic tranny pans, plastic, this plastic that. It's why the valve covers quite often crack the minute maintenance is done to the engine. Does it really provide anything functionally? No. I guess one could say maybe a little, the number of little pockets all over the plastic intake manifold mean dirt, liquid, etc will build up if you don't take the time to clean it. At least the cover prevents a little bit of that.

Years ago, I paid for the raptor Ford Performance cover and I think it looks great. I may have the original if anyone wants it. Just pay shipping, which I can quote. But I need to double check if I actually still have it.

Obligatory disclaimer, this is my opinion.
