I need to replace my 2003 Expedition with a new one. I've been looking around town at the 2024's on different Ford Dealer lots and I like what I see. But when I check here on the Forum. still read about all the 10-speed Transmission issues these have. Has this issue been resolved? Or, does this issue only affect certain optioned models? Is there a way to know (by test driving) if your car has issues?

I'm stuck and can't move forward. Would appreciate any suggestions or feedback.
Picked up my new 2024 Ford Expedition XLT a week ago. It has the 202A - High Package, and the 17T - Texas Edition Package (which is the same as the 50T - Special Edition Package with Texas badging). We’ve been driving it a lot and it’s very comfortable and performs well. Very happy with the purchase decision. Thanks for all the input!

My friend has a 24 Corsair, I personally don't think push button gear selection is a good idea like the one shown in the Navigator. I like a stick instead but I'm getting used to my rotary knob on my 24 Expedition.

Thanks for all the input. I found a 2024 in the color and with the options I wanted. The transmission shifted smoothly during the test drive. So, I decided to get off the fence and buy it. Hoping this new one gives me 21+ years of good service like the last one!
I'm not sure there's a vehicle on the road that will last 21 years. Just like how major appliance are lucky to last 5 years anymore. Maybe a Hyundai? One of the reasons a buddy of mine ditched two newer cars to buy a 2007 Sequioa with the million mile motor.

Well, my 011 EL is pushing 15 years & running like a champ, so maybe I'm just lucky or something :D

Congrats on your purchase. We just bought a 2024 in December. We had a 2024 Toyota Grand Highlander for about 6 months, but with all the recalls and the strange noises that the Dealer kept trying to say was "normal sounds for the hybrid system," we dumped it for the 2024 Expedition. I've learned my lesson about New Model Year 1st Runs... never again, so it was important for us to get a 2024 instead of the new 2025. A little research showed that many of the problems were corrected after 2022. We noticed typical, low build quality (driver rear door not aligned, center console cover doesnt always close as it should), but they've been simple enough for me to sort out. I think all the cars post-Covid are a crap shoot and definitely not built like they used to be. Dealer service centers are a joke as well. BUT, we're enjoying the Expedition.

Just watch this vid from the best Ford tech out there and this should help ease your anxiety on an expedition purchase.... (sarcasm)

That's pretty amazing. What crap. Guess that's lesson learned if it goes in for major repair.

This is true. Part of why I go hot and cold about getting rid of mine. Many folks are actually buying anything pre 2020 and fixing it up.

That's the point, that's a 2011. My 2011 Grand Cherokee that I sold for this, is still going strong as well. The dealers family loves it. The point was anything in the last 7-10 years, especially post covid is suffering.

that's insane, completely unreal. Great, now I have another thing I have to closely watch on this thing. the thing is, coolant hoses are nothing new, they've been on cars for a hundred years now, and I've never had a car that had multiple leak points like that video shows. and that car looks like it's pretty well babied, probably a grocery getter. So the only reason that's happening is to cut initial costs, and increase repair costs, double whammy for the consumer.

My 2019 started making the cam phaser noise. I wanted 4 wheel drive and Ford offered finance and pricing specials. My 2024 Stealth Limited has 4WD and CCD. It rides much smoother, but the first thing replaced will be the General Grabbers.

The Grabbers are a good tire, but with the CCD, there are many choices that will make that ride better.

No, they are not! I had to have one replaced right out of the gate due to not being able to balance. Granted, this can happen to other tires, but read lots of negative comments about them online. Upgraded to Pirelli Scorpion AS3 Plus tires and night and day difference in handling, ride, and noise!

I too upgraded to Pirelli Scorpions Weathercraft which are fantastic tires. The grabbers rode fine with no needed balancing, so you must have gotten a bad lot or they sat too long waiting to be sold. Why Ford puts these on their vehicles without an optional choice is beyond me.

General tires were, are and will always be crap. I never say never, but if I was buying new vehicle, especially $80K, and it had Generals, I'd make them change them, or I wouldn't buy that vehicle. No, never!

I have 44k miles on my original General Grabbers and have had no issues. They are at 3/32nds so we are at the end of their life, but they have worn evenly, provided good traction in all conditions, and are not overly noisy that I can tell. Now I’m looking at the Michelin defenders as replacements, but I would not refuse a new car because they had GG’s on them. Maybe I’m an outlier.

Maybe you got a good set? Either way...me? Never.

Oh, and 44K miles? I got 60K out of the OEM Hankooks most people don't like. Probably could have pushed to 65K.
