Noticed this recall when looking up a part for another vehicle. Dealer came out yesterday and did the upgrade. Haven't driven enough to notice any difference other than the display no longer shows what gear the vehicle is in.

Push the + button by the shift dial when in gear and the numbers will show up again. There are other settings that were
set back to default too. Instrument panel lighting (buttons near the headlight switch). Ambient lighting.
During the sw update process the CAN bus is reset which caused this. Just put them back to your preferred preference.

... are we 100% sure this reprogram is innocent & that our power is not affected / reduced or anything else negative? i have trust issues after VW snuck in secondary power reductions on their "emissions" realted PCM updates (which i reverted back to original)

My Expedition is at the shop today for the reprogramming pertaining to this recall. I did receive the cat error message a while back, but it went away and never came back, after a road trip.

Mine got this done today. Letter was in the box today and it went for oil change on pick up and delivery. Have to see if it seems any different. I didn’t know it was happening until the guy handed me the paperwork with it already done.

To clear things up: There is NO power loss, the missing shifting is due to someone pressing the shift buttons on the center console.
The update is for tolerances, so the warning light and codes don't prematurely pop up, causing a falsehood that the catalytic converter or oxygen sensor is bad.

None of that happened on my 2019 Platinum. Maybe it's a year thing.

My dealer called me, set up a time to do it, and came out to our house before the recall letter even arrived. The only glitch was having to re-set the clock to MST

Had this update when my oil was changed last week. The only difference I can tell is with my cruise control. It use to come a screen no adaptive braking when I would turn on the cruise control before setting the speed. Now it slows down depending on how close you have it set to the other vehicle ahead of you. Anyway of turning that off?

100 miles in and I havent notice any difference.

After initial re-programming I had to re-activate the gear list in the dash. I also noticed the tire pressures took about 3 of driving for them all to show back up.

I had the recall done last week. Drove the Expedition over the weekend, and it's really shifting terribly now. Yesterday, during a cold start drive away it shifted so harshly that even my 9 year old kid asked what the heck was going on. I'm hoping the harsh shifting resolves itself quickly, otherwise it will be back to the dealership for even more transmission-related warranty work (it was already rebuilt under warranty a few months ago).

Since they updated it, they probably deleted all your learning data. So when you erase the TCM info, the tranny goes back to factory aggressive shifting. So, it should get tamer, once your learn info get recorded again.
