I did the recall on my 2019 Ford expedition
Unfortunately after I did the recall on the pcm. My car now it’s shutting on gear 5.6.7 and 10.
But I fell the car more smother on the gear 1to 4.

I report already to the dealer but unfortunately the dealer next to my house it’s a very. Complicated and difficult to help me out to fix this new issue.

I already call ford direct report everything to them. And I’m bring my car to a different ford dealer.

That’s what you find online.

After a PCM (Powertrain Control Module) recall update on your 2019 Ford Expedition, experiencing shaking or shuddering, particularly in certain gears (like 5, 6, 7, and 10 at low speeds), is a reported issue by some Ford Expedition owners
.
Here's why this might be happening and what you can do:
Why it might be happening
  • Adaptive Learning Incompatibility: The new PCM update might not be perfectly compatible with the transmission's adaptive learning, leading to harsh shifts or shuddering, particularly at low speeds when the transmission is adapting to the new programming.
  • Pre-existing Transmission Issues: The PCM update might exacerbate an underlying problem with the transmission, such as low or degraded transmission fluid, worn clutch packs, or issues with shift solenoids, according to JustAnswer.
  • Torque Converter Shudder: Some owners report experiencing shuddering in higher gears, particularly at low RPMs, which can be related to the torque converter not locking up smoothly.
  • Specific Recall Issues: In some cases, the recall itself might have introduced or worsened a specific issue that affects the transmission's performance.
What you can do
  1. Recontact the Ford Dealer:
    • Explain that the shaking started after the PCM update.
    • Refer to the specific recall number (if you know it).
    • Inquire if there's a specific post-update procedure or a potential problem with the update on your particular vehicle.
    • There might be a related customer satisfaction program (like program 21N08 mentioned in a NHTSA document) providing a free, one-time repair or PCM recalibration, per a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (.gov) document.
  2. Mention Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs):
    • Refer to TSB 23-2123 (which supersedes 22-2139) related to harsh shifting in 10R80 transmissions in certain Ford vehicles, including the Expedition.
    • Ask the dealer to consult and follow the service procedure steps outlined in the TSB, which may include overhauling the main control valve body and/or performing an adaptive learning drive cycle to correct the condition.
  3. Check Transmission Fluid:
    • Ensure the fluid is at the correct level and isn't burnt or dirty.
    • You might consider a fluid flush with the specified Mercon ULV fluid for the 10R80 transmission.
  4. Reset Adaptive Learning:
    • Disconnect the negative battery terminal for approximately 30 minutes to reset the transmission's adaptive learning.
    • Drive normally afterward to allow the transmission to re-learn its shifting patterns.
  5. Scan for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs):
    • Even if the check engine light isn't illuminated, use an OBD2 scanner to check for transmission-related error codes.
    • These codes can help pinpoint the exact cause of the problem, like specific shift solenoid issues or sensor faults.
  6. Consult a Transmission Specialist:
    • If the dealer is unable to resolve the issue, consider seeking help from a reputable transmission specialist for a more thorough diagnosis.
Important considerations
  • Don't ignore the issue: Shaking or shuddering can indicate a problem that could worsen over time.
  • Safety: If the shaking is severe or affects vehicle control, it's best to avoid driving and arrange for towing, according to JustAnswer

Luckily, I did not have any issues, after my update.
Do the "Reset Adaptive Learning" unless you have FORScan, then you can reset it using it. That should clear it up.

Dropped off for recalls, asked about the wastegate rattle, was informed that service center is pretty certain it’s cam phasers for the 3rd time. Getting replaced under warranty

FYI- If it is indeed the wastegate rattles, There is nothing Ford will and can do about that other than say its just noise and the doesn't affect performance. Like they told me.

Both my driver and passenger side wastegates rattle like crazy while driving around

Yea I was leaning towards doing that but it’s under the fantastic carmax warranty (I can’t say enough good about that) so I wanted to see if they’d take care of it.
Sarcasm or no? I've never purchased from CM as their prices were never competitive with other's on the market so I don't know how good or bad their warranty is.

I’m shocked to hear about the wait to get a reflash. Wow. A day? Mine was done with the oil leak at valve cover gasket.

We contacted the dealer when we got the recall notice and were advised they would notify us when the parts were available for our 2019. When we brought it in for our appointment, the dealer had the parts on hand. It may have been there for three or four hours. As far as the PCM recall goes, the service department contacted me and scheduled a tech to come to the house and perform the update. I have noticed no change in how the car drives.

So I am actually having the same thing with harsh shifting. THANK You for Sharing. I may reach out to you for more info. Any updates on your end? Mine is noticely bad and it's very harsh and vibrating between 5,6,7 and around 25-35MPH!

Driving in Sport Mode or Tow/Haul appears to prevent it from happening. I haven't had any issues while in those modes, the issue is gone because of different shift point parameters.

Just saw this. No sarcasm at all, I 100% mean it. Their warranty is great and during the initial warranty period they do for all their cars they are really quick to fix basically anything I've found on my cars. And they really do a good job with the inspections and identifying issues to let you know about. They've always been the middle of the market for prices in our area but the service and buying experiences have made it worth paying that bit extra to us. The maxcare warranty is an add on but its exclusionary so unless they have it listed as an exclusion, it's covered and I've never had a claim denied by them. With the initial cam phaser swap, o2 sensors, and full ac rebuild (had a leak develop that was traced to metal shavings in the system, the replaced all the lines, both evaporators, condenser, drier, and compressor), they've put something like $23k in repairs in it for the initial cost of ~$2400. And I still have a little over 2 years and 65k miles left on the warranty.

also, after the cam phaser swap, still get the rattle, still pretty certain its the wastegate actuators and I might try the spring mod. But after the reflash mine had for the recall, it definitely shifts smoother with less hunting for gears, though it seems more hesitant to go into 9th or 10th.

Same here.

Once upon a time I worked for them. When selling the warranty you would name off things NOT covered (such as worn brake pads).

Bought quite a few cars. With MaxCare never had issues with coverage. My current truck is covered by it although I've yet to need it.

The dealership came out to my address and performed the emissions/reprogram in my driveway. Took them roughly a little over an hour for my 19.
