I got gas today and laid my Receipt and credit card on top of the sliding door on my console. Both accidently slid into the slot at the rear. There is no way I see to enter that particular cavity of the console. I Removed the side panel screws on the side, and also the two screws inside the top of the console where the 2 latches are but still cannot get in. Has anyone else had something eaten by the console? Any advice would be appreciated.

No advice.

I do recall several posts on this forum from 4th generation Expedition owners that lost credit cards and other similar size items in the front, center console.

I guess Ford hasn't figured out how to make a console that doesn't eat credit cards and driver licenses?

In situations like this I tell myself that somehow the thing was assembled. In the case of plastics, if it's not glued or welded, there must be a way in there. Question is whether it's worth your time.

Park on a very steep downhill and gently put pressure on the plastic as it's coming out?

When my 2019 was new I lost a card in front of the console, where the phone charger and USB ports are. I'm very careful not to put anything there now.
On another note, has anyone had their cupholder fall through? Mine fell through, my daughter through extra keys in center console, landing in broken cupholder and they were gone. Knew they were there, door wouldn't lock using button on car door but couldn't find them. We'll, had cupholder replaced and they got them out. Ford says broken cupholders are common because of heavy cups we now use. Never had a broken cupholder in my life until now.

This is not uncommon in the 4th gens and there is a thread (or two) about it. I think it is becuase the little "bumpers" in there are so tight, if you're not familiar with how to "angle the cup in", you have to slam it thru them...as my wife does when she's in my car. I am always terrified every time she does it.

I have a 2019 and have lost things down in the black hole. My friend has a suburban and has had similar issues.

I had our basketball parking pass for a college game slide right in on a 2024 exp. when I put the brake on. I hadn't hung it on my mirror yet. Crazy how fast it went in into the "black hole"! Basically don't set anything thin and important on the slide area!

My 2022 has eaten a few things. Last time it got a CC it was one of the heavier metal core ones, so I hit the brakes hard a couple times, heard it bounce down lower in no-man’s land, and was lucky enough to be able to remove the driver’s side trim for the center console and snag it. Kinda reminded me of a game of plinko.

Good to know big blue hasn’t managed to fix the issue in the newer gen...Wouldn’t want them to be inconsistent.

Also, amen to the wives slamming the drinks into the cup holders! It’s either that or they don’t push them all the way in and they tip out the first turn you take. Epic.

Yep, just lost a mailbox key in the same spot. Thinking about removing the panel by the drivers feet but haven't tried it yet.

I haven't tried it and don't know if it is possible or not but does the center arm console main storage unit just have mounting screws in it? You may be able to raise the arm rest cover, remove a couple of screws, pull out the inner liner of the storage compartment and get to the cards, etc that way. I lost a couple ID cards in my 2019 toward the front and had to remove the entire console to get them back.

Good luck
Tom

Can’t resist to offer:

Protect your property and shoot at the offender (Center console) until it gives up the CC. Then put him to jail. Lol
