Acura CL-S 6MT

My 2nd Ford vehicle and probably my last, Im sticking with Honda. Anyway, Ive had a 1997 Ford Expedtion Eddie Bauer. Multiple thing wrong with the vehicle, from leaky windshield/sunroof, to brakes that worked when they felt like it as well as headlights. Ive had less problems out of my track car and it has 220,000 miles on it!
Decided to sell vehicle but since this was the 1st year of the Expedtion I decided to give it another try, since there are always bugs in any car no matter what brand. I picked up a 1999 (bought in 2003) Expedition Eddie Bauer w/ 49,000 miles, all books a records, even called the previous owner to see why he traded it in. He didnt need anything that big anymore.
Overall it felt a little better built than the 1997 ever did. The motor was smoother/powerful, the drivetrain felt better, it didnt have as many squeaks and rattles, and the interior was quieter. Although it has that annoying dash sqeak that sounds like a lil bird chirping behind the dash, the 1997 did that also.
Keep in mind I only use this vehicle for towing. I tow my SCCA prepared 1995 Honda Civic sedan to track events (car+trailer+equipment=5000lbs give or take). I also use it for towing small riding lawnmowers, and the occasional landscaping items. Other than that it doenst get driven since we have 2003 Acura CL-S 6MT coupe (mine), 2005 Honda Odyssey Touring (wifes), and her toy a 2002 Honda S2000.
About a couple of months ago I noticed a grinding in the drivetrain that could be felt and heard through the floor board. It wasnt doing it all the time but the more I drove it the more it occurred. I had the fluid changed and it still was doing it. My uncle (who is a good ole shade tree mechanic, but ASE certified) printed out some TSB's ( thicker than a Bible) and we narrowed it down the to, what we thought was the 4WD actuator not doing its thing.
I had that changed and it still continues to do it. If you punch (floor it) the throttle at low speeds, say 30mph, the trucks body actually shifts to the left and the lag can be really felt. We finally narrowed it down to the transfer case in the 4WD system. I couldnt beleive a vehicle this expsensive would actually have something this major go wrong with it with ONLY 70,000 miles. Keep in mind I only puy 21,000 miles on it in since 2003, and have maintained any and all maitenence schedules.
I dont want to put in a new transfer case ($1500 for case) because I wont have the truck for another year, (buying a 2001 Toyota Tundra V8). Does anyone know where I can get a used case for a decent price?
