Trans issue.
This is what my $1k '03 Navigator was doing when I bought it. The 4R100 would take a long time to shift into D, you could hear some slight racket from inside the transmission. So I tore it out and replaced it with a ZF5 5spd out of a Super Duty. Will it eventually go into Drive after giving it...- Laporterican

Expedition Raptor
Ford would have to do some major reworking of the rear suspension and frame rails to get the needed travel. Could it be done? Of course. Same goes for putting a V8 in one, it just doesn't make sense from a cost and development standpoint. We won't be buying one, plenty happy with our '22...- Laporterican

Navigator ZF5 Manual Swap
I'm replacing the seal between the trans and t-case. Transfercase is easy enough to pull if I need to down the road, it seems to be fully operational at the moment. By "OD" do you mean overdrive? Smaller Wheels for Softer Ride
More sidewall makes a huge difference. My wife had a 2018 Grand Cherokee with 20s rode like crap, I put on the biggest Wildpeaks I could fit, which helped. Before I pulled the Navi off the lift and started on the pedals and shifter hole, I thought it was a good time to take off the fancy auto-dropping full-of-rust running boards. SO MUCH RUST, DIRT, AND ROCKS! I probably swept up 18lbs of debris after pulling those off!- Laporterican

Hole is cut, clutch and brake pedal assembly is in, driveshafts are done, and most of the parts are on the bench waiting to get installed! Install F150 Bilstein 5100 or 6112 products on my 2004 Expedition?
Have you measured or compared 2018 Expedition rear shocks? My wife has a 2022 Timberline, I could easily measure and compare. I have a 2003 Navigator to make the comparisons with. Install F150 Bilstein 5100 or 6112 products on my 2004 Expedition?
@Vincent Vega What are the part numbers for the Bilstein 5100s you used? When I'm done with my manual swap on my Navigator I plan on doing a bunch of front end work, I'd like to upgrade the suspension while I'm in there. I've been quite happy with the 5100s on my '99 F350 7.3L.- Laporterican

Navigator ZF5 Manual Swap
It was pretty straightforward. Lots of overlapping plastic panels, it was a bit difficult to determine which panel was attached to what. Most importantly, I DIDN'T BREAK A SINGLE PIECE OF PLASTIC OR ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR!!!! Should have time today to pull the kick panels, sill plates, and carpet...- Laporterican

Gutted the interior in the front, both seats, console, and the autoscum shifter. It's going to be TIGHT getting the shifter exactly where I want it, I'll definitely need to draw up an aluminum plate and get it laser cut. All the parts are on the bench, pretty sure I have everything I need to get this project on to the next phase. I’m heading out to the shop to gut the interior in the front. Navigator ZF5 Manual Swap
I really don't think there will be any clearance issues, the ZF5 is taller where the shift tower is, which will need to get cut out, but otherwise it should fit perfect. It's actually smaller than the 4R100. The T-case that came in the Navigator is also larger than the Super Duty's manual shift...- Laporterican

Finished pulling everything apart on parts truck, rounded up parts from local junkyards, measured, made many phone calls, powerwashed the ZF5 and T-case, cleaned the shop, and did some test fitment. Found out the F250 Super Duty clutch pedal assembly won't work in the Navigator, there's not...- Laporterican

I got the 4R100 and transfer case out last week, tomorrow I'll work on unloading all the scrap metal and car parts out of the parts truck, pull the pedal assembly, pull the cab off with my tractor, and start getting the transmission and transfer case out.
