    Build sheet

According to the 2014 sales brochure, all 2014 Limiteds have the HD Tow Package as standard equipment. Load Leveling Suspension was an option that was only available added on to the 301A equipment group, which included the moonroof, navigation, and power running boards. If you don't have that...

Had to replace rear shocks in the strut

I just got turned on to Zeigler and Lombard Ford who sell factory-backed extended warranties as significantly discounted prices compared to what your local dealer will offer. Check them out.

    Recommended Transmission Cooler

Other things you can do to help with temps are to keep it in 4th gear on the highway. More RPMs, but easier on the transmission to not be in overdrive gears. Also, if you haven't changed your transmission fluid, you should. Could be your fluid is starting to give up (causing slippage) and...

    Recommended Transmission Cooler

If you have the remote starter, heated and cooled seats, and the factory brake controller to the left of the center display screen then you have the HD tow package. They all came with the 202a option package. The 8" center stack screen is part of this too. Check the 2017 official Ford...

Where to install transmission temp gauge sensor?

Have you tried one of those cheap Bluetooth OBDII readers? The apps can be funky pulling data from some cars, but that would be my starting spot. I use the "Car Scanner" Android app on other cars.

Mechanic says not to use 4a all the time

To quote from the manual, page 169: "This mode (4A) is appropriate for all driving conditions, such as dry road surfaces, wet pavement, snow, or gravel." 4H and 4L are a different story.

Considering high mileage Eco Boost - What am I missing?

For what it's worth, I've found a local shop that will do a compression test and borescope the intake manifold for a few hundred bucks. Probably overkill, but I think I'll do it for my own piece of mind. I should be able to check out the higher mileage vehicle in a week or so, and the lower...

Considering high mileage Eco Boost - What am I missing?

Thanks @Trainmaster and @JasonH. I'd hardly considered extended warranties, but it sounds like both Ford and CarMax/Fidelity are decent to deal with on them. I can't believe Lombard Ford selling factory-backed warranties for high-mileage used cars! Definitely gives me something else to think...

Considering high mileage Eco Boost - What am I missing?

Does Ford sell their "Protect" plans for non-factory certified used vehicles? I'd assumed that wasn't an option since I was buying used outside of factory warranty coverage. I've always considered 3rd party warranties to be a waste of money since they tend to avoid paying out at all costs.

Considering high mileage Eco Boost - What am I missing?

You're telling me! This one (2016 Limited) is $30k. Sucky time to buy a used car, but at least my trade in value is elevated as well. Looking at a similar XLT (2017) with only 65k miles but for $37k! Steep price to pay for one year newer and 40k fewer miles, but one big repair wipes the money is...

Considering high mileage Eco Boost - What am I missing?

Thanks for your feedback @Trainmaster and @99WhiteC5Coupe. Good to know the Mercon LV ATFs hold up pretty well. 100k miles is super impressive to not be destroyed. I'm not a fan of the "lifetime" fluids a lot of OEMs are going to, but I guess I'm just old fashioned. I may invest in a cheap...

Considering high mileage Eco Boost - What am I missing?

Hi Expy Forums, I'm looking at used 2015-2017 Expedition ELs and was hoping for some advice. I'm coming from a 2016 Honda Pilot looking for a much more capable tow vehicle. I see plenty in the 100k mile range and wanted to sanity check my inspection plan. 1. ATF fluid. Probably hasn't ever...
