My poor old expedition is rotting away and I just can handle it any more. Winter is ending here in Canada and something must be done. I've dropped my truck off at a bodyshop to have some repairs done including rockers, rear fenders, tailgate and who knows what else they might find. I hate being without my truck but it should only be a week I hope.

I’m with you on the rockers ninjafied, my uncle has an 08’ Eddie Bauer bought new and the rocker panels have disintegrated over the last two years and there is nothing left. My 07’ passenger side has a hole rotted through underneath. Both trucks will be in for surgery soon. Ford didn’t make these rockers well, I never see a GM NNBS of our era with rotted rockers.

Mines an 07 limited max. A couple years ago I removed the running boards to try and stop the sand and salt from sitting on the rockers all winter but it was useless. I love my truck and am excited to see how well it looks when I get it back.
It’s well worth it to replace rocker panels on trucks in good shape if you keep your vehicles. The frames, body panels, powertrains are good but the rockers were a fail on fords part. I don’t know anyone who would scrap a perfectly good truck over some rocker panel corrosion.

This is the bad spot on mine where it’s perforated underneath on the pass side. Otherwise mine is in good shape.

i hear and see all these horror stories about Expedition rocker panels. I have an 07 started its life out on the East Coast then Colorado and now down in the Coastal Bend area of Texas I have not a sign of rust on mine. Have they even started making repair panels for the 07 or newer expeditions? I wonder what it would cost for a body shop to have to replace them.

Much depends on where in the east it came from and how much they salt there. My previous SUV spent the first 6 years of its life in NY and barely had a hint of rust. After 2 years in PA, however, it had quite a bit as they salt the roads like crazy here.
