I traded my 2006 Suburban for a 2008 Navigator and so far, other than feeling cramped since I couldn't find the extended model, it's been a great car. I learned from the dealer that the water pump fell apart on the Suburban the day after I traded it in (at 302,000 miles, it's not like it was an unexpected failure) so I got pretty lucky! I had a 2011 Expedition-EL but it rusted out to the point of compromising the integrity of the cab by 2016.

I have a few questions:
1. The rear wiper will occasionally do REALLY stupid stuff, like start wiping the metal part down to the tail lamps and back up to about the middle of the glass. I've tried just moving it with my finger while it's off and then it does the same thing, but on the other side of the tailgate.
2. The manual says if you push and hold INFO then the outside temp will show up on the odometer where the compass is displayed, but nothing happens when I do that. Is this limited to certain options? I do have the ext temp button on the climate control, but I don't usually care what direction I'm going and I do care how cold it is.
3. Satellite radio will occasionally get in a mood where it acts like the antenna is loose and the station cuts in and out, but restarting the ignition fixes it. It starts when I go in an area with bad reception, and then it just never seems to get it back.
4. Has Ford ever made an Expedition/Navigator where the rocker panels don't rust out? the left side is cracked open, right side looks fine (Sorry, more of a rant than a question lol)

The rocker panels are not great on all expy years as they share a lot in drainage design, or lack there of. The kicker is, the frames, floor pans, inner rocker (thick part) all are great and generally DON’T rust up on these....so yes it’s weird. On my current 2007 EL Eddie Bauer the frame is near perfect, floor pans don’t have rust etc....but the rockers were replaced before I bought it (Glad). The rockers are the weak link on these trucks for sure. I spray my undercarriage with Fluid Film and periodically add a can here and there to maintain corrosion resistance here up North.

If you already have rust to slow it down soak the inside of the rockers with fluid film thru the holes on the backside. It really slows rust down and will buy time. Also make sure drains are clear, unless it’s already cracked or through then that’s your new drain anyway lol.

If I ever have the $100K+ to buy one of these new the first thing I'd do is punch some holes in the rocker panels

The rear wiper one was super easy, the bolt was loose that holds the wiper arm on. Tightened it up, it works properly now.
