My '07 Expy EB 4X4 started acting up a while back. When I start to drive, I feel the engine cut back a bit, and a CEL and a wrench comes on. I checked for codes and there were a plethora of them. So, I took it to my mechanic. He said the engine was a replacement and whoever installed it ran the engine wiring harness the wrong way, and the plastic wire coverings on all the wires in the harness melted away on the exhaust header. Brilliant! The wiring harness I need had been discontinued. NO ONE was selling them. If there were any around, nobody was talking about them. I finally found one after 2 years of searching! https://www.fordpartsgiant.com/parts/ford-wire-asy_7l1z-15525-ba.html
Has anyone had experience replacing it and the costs?

Just had to rewire the passenger side of a 2013 5.4 because squirrels chewed it all up. Very difficult. I took me 3 days and many redos before we got it right. I feel for ya bro. The newer stuff just aint what it used to be. Very small wires doing very big jobs.

The wires inside are color coded and should be repairable. If you can't do it, find a good old-school auto electric shop. Paying for the time to repair the harness may be cheaper than buying and installing a new one.

I had the exact same problem, bought a 2009 limited back in March and kept getting engine codes and limp mode. Mechanic and Ford service could not figure it out. THIS EXPO ALSO HAD A NEW ENGINE INSTALLED AT THE FORD DEALER....I was pulling a travel trailer in early August through upper peninsula of Michigan,. Up and down big hills and finally the engine got so hot it fused the harness to the engine block. I was so lucky that it happen in a small town with an electrical Auto shop.... $450 later and about 4 hours he cut out melted wires and spliced in new ones.. mechanic said wiring harness was never secured to the walls away from the engine.
Best $450 I ever spent on a vehicle.

Like stated above.. find a good electrical Auto repair shop.. should be an easy fix for them.
