I had a chat with my dealer this afternoon. I showed him the attachment showing the various items that were being removed from the different trim levels of expeditions. He wasn’t aware of what was going on, but went onto his computer and found the new codes to delete the rear seat controls. The delete wasn’t available yet for the massaging seats. It was made clear though, that since my Platinum Expedition has not been scheduled yet, that I will need to have those options removed before Ford will schedule mine.

As of now, I’m still going to go through with my order. It stinks that those options are not going to be available, but I‘m locked in at a cheaper price, then it would be to cancel my order and then order something else.

My dealer was also saying, that he doesn’t think that supply chain issues are going to be much better for a couple years yet. That was just his opinion though. I sort of agree. We had been told these issues were going to be better by the second half of this year, but to me, it’s not looking like that’s going to be the case.

I think your dealer's assessment is correct. There are just so many points of failure in supply chains for things like automobiles, and with China shutting down again, any thoughts we'd see much improvement this year is fantasy.

Personally I think the auto manufacturers are going to have to pretty significantly change the way they do business, probably move to making more components in-house or at least in the US with shorter transportation lead times. I'm guessing as they revamp the supply chains they will prioritize the electric division, so it may be even longer for the traditional models before we see anything like normal.

And I also think that a return to normal is "everything special order". Ford et al would be dumb to not take advantage of this crisis to move to a better model (for them) for selling cars.

Question for people who have recently gone into production. Did you get an update email? I got the confirmation email, the scheduled for production email…5 or 6 times, then the thank you for your order but you’re no longer in production email, and nothing since then. I know they’ve stopped emails since there was so much change but I wasn’t sure if once it officially hit production you would hear anything. Or hear anything as it made its way along, complete, chip hold, shipped, etc. Thanks

Has anybody on chip hold been moved? I don’t even have an updated ETA. Frustrating that new builds are getting scheduled for the parts we need

Does anyone know if this applies to the Navigator as well?

Nope. No news and originally went into production on 2/8 and officially on chip hold on 3/14.
