Sounds like the faulty transmission part causing it to drop into a neutral state. This is affecting 2019’s also. There are other threads here people on waiting lists at dealers. The issue is a internal part that was machined incorrectly affecting pressure in the hydraulic system as I understand it.
The actual designed part was correct but for some reason the part used was not made to spec as I Understand it Ford is quietly replacing this part but it basically involves tearing down the transmission swapping in the part and reassembly. They must use a certified transmission expert to do it so its a get on the wait list and go when called kinda deal
