FYI - From time to time I see a post where someone is looking to replace power running board motors on a Gen 3 and sees that Ford only offers the entire assembly at a very healthy price. I was looking through Rock Auto today for an unrelated item and saw that they offer a number of different make replacements, none are cheap, but certainly less than paying for the entire aswsembly.

I got one on ebay for $215. Installed 3yrs ago and still running strong. That rig procedure is kinda wacky but not a hard job.

If I were here, you would know it !
Well, as long as you're only replacing the motors, control rod & brackets, it shouldn't be too expensive...around $800-1000...

But the boards themselves, well that's another story altogether...

A few years ago, I got a quote from local stealership for the entire package: $3857. So I called around to a few other stealerships not too far away and was quoted $3950 & $4662.

Of course this included paint to match and 2 coats of satin clear coat too, which I know is expensive in it's own right, but that still seemed high...

Anyways, good luck with your replacements :D

So, it pays to keep those things clean and oiled, but I'm wondering if the motor can be repaired at a "motor shop" which should cost much less.
