I went with the powerstop "police" brakes. Marketing aside, i wanted semi-metalic pad. The good ones out perform ceramic even the "carbon" ceramic in every catagory, except wear and dust.
I was only able to get the front installed so far, but its a night and day difference in stopping power...
It might have been clarified already, but.
These expys have an AC expansion valve, no orifice tube.
The dryer that holds the dessicant is part of the condenser, i dont know if its serviceable.
I hope you dont have the "black death" as some call it. The compressor brakes down and you get a...
Ya, I have seen that a time or 3. . . I still get notifications for it. And the consensious is, if you stay on good roads they are great, but if you travel on bad roads or dirt roads with washboard they are terrible. I have a lot of experience with Bilstein stocks and everyone's thought align...
Hi all. Planning a 3200 mile trip at the end of the year so im getting a parts liat together for the Expy. Currently im trying to figure out what shocks to go with.
I have an 09 Expy EL.
I wanted to go with they KYB strut assembly and simply swap them in. However i cant find the rears for a...
Thanks i will look at all the fuses again. Its been working flawlessly for the entire time i have had the truck and use it quite often. This started just recently and its driving me nuts.
Its a 2009 Expedition EL.
It has a uhaul brake controler installed. Plug is a 4 pin, and a 7 pin. However I have removed that box from the equasion by going directly to the factory 4 flat plug under the truck.
I get no power at the wires (green and yellow) before the factory plug for brakes...
Hi all I'm in need of some help.
I have no power to the trailer brake light specifically. I have running lights, just no brake lights or turn signal (same wire). I tested the wire before it enters the plug so its not a plug issue.
All the fuses under the box and in the kick panel are good.
The...
I did this job without that tool. I simply used channel locking pliers to rotate the cam into position. You obviously need to be extremely careful not to damage the cam.
Irwin were the only brand that was thin enough to fit.
As for priming the pump, i didnt take anything apart. I poured 5w-20 in all the ports and on the gear, moved it around, then let it saok in a container while i worked on getting the valve cover off.
My 09, you simply hold the gas pedal to the floor and that will disable the injectors and not...
An air chisel on a wrench you dont care for is the absolute best way to remove that stupid fan clutch!
Dont pull the PS pully, i had the puller, and wrong installer. Thay made the job way longer, removing the 3 bolts that i had to anyways was way easier.
Bolting the pickup tube to the pump can...
Hell when one blows out just a little its enough to cause issues. Probably because of the just barly adaquate oil pump in this turd.
This caused a lot of VVT issues on my truck.
I had a similar surging issue, mine turned out to be the tensioner. It was bypassing enough fluid to effect my VVT.
I replaced my tensioners and installed a melling pump and its been smooth and powerful ever since!
I would love to get one as well, would love to have the ac cooling down In the summer!
Im kind of in the same boat. Dont want a hack job, and dont want a bulky fob.
Share what you find!
I went with the Melling.
Theres just something about my oil pump bypassing a large amount of oil at 2200rpm that has me question if this was intentional, or "good enough"...
I work with a lot of engineers, and they are not the all knowing bunch everyone makes them out to be.
Man I wish I could justify putting a full Icon setup on my Expy. . . But they dont have one for my year and cant justify the $ for what my truck is worth. . .
Thanks for the insight on the bilsteins.
It kind of confirms my suspicion that it would be a firmer ride. I put the recommended bilsteins on a lifted jeep 10 years ago and it went from okay to filling buster and had a hard time going offroad due to the rough ride. I called them up and order...
So the Expy is in need of some new shocks and I'm at a bit of a loss.
On occasion I tow a heavy trailer, and haul 8 people on vacation with luggage on top. When the truck is loaded up it gets a bit too floaty.
I'm not sure if I have the load leveling but if I do, would bilsteins still be a...
I love the EL for those exact reasons, however I will say. I would never use it for that purpose on a daily basis. You get into a wreck with all that inside the cab, it's far more deadly, not only is it contained inside, but there are also zero retension points making everything loose and...
I just recently experienced traction control for the first time and color me impressed!
First I have good extreme weather rated A/T tires (with the snowflake).
Went up north in some mountains with lots of snow and Ice. Driving in town on unplowed roads was a bit unnerving, but handled it...
I think you should have a door sticker that will tell you the ratio and if you have a limited slip or not.
My expedition for example is 3.73 with limited slip rear.
As for no traction, my guess would be completely different vehicles with vastly different tires. Smaller tires fill with mud much...
2009 EL
Bought at 160k, now at 175k.
Heater hose T leaked and was replaced with a brass fitting.
Blown tensioner at around 173k so I replaced all timing components.
Shocks are shot, trying to figure out what to go with.
Ac compressor is noisy, but still working great.
Bubbling paint on...
I recently replaced the all the timing components and oil pump in my 5.4, I had to hold the key for a good 30 to 40 seconds to get it to prime. It will register at the gauge while cranking only.
I tried priming in 10 and 20 second intervals and it never worked.
I filled the pump with oil...
