The more I read and learn the more I like Procharger. How loud is it? There's a quieter option, is it really a big difference? What is the difference with the D-1SC upgrade option that cost $400?
I may have to join an F-150 forum like you suggested.
Previously I had avoided even looking at the Procharger because I had heard bad things about it. However, I read plenty of info on it this morning and it looks really nice. I especially like the fact that it's intercooled, and the intake air is ambient temperature. So running 8-9 psi Procharger...
I definitely wanted the Whipple or Kenne Bell style instead of a factory Lightning one. I just don't know what other pieces I would need to make it a direct bolt on. If it's just a few pulleys or tensioner or something then not a big deal. But if it's gonna involve changing to a Lightning...
sounds like a bad sensor somewhere. Maybe a throttle position sensor? If the computer thinks that you have your foot to the floor it will probably hold the gears to redline before shifting.
Looks like Kenne Bell makes one for the 5.4L, however their price sheet completely skips the SUV's, Expedition section completely! Their price sheet only shows mustangs and lightning upgrades. They have a complete section of their website dedicated to the 5.4 liter SUV engines and shows the...
Seems like everywhere I look they skip the 2003 Expedition. I really prefer the Whipple S/C but their website says 2004 and up Expedition.
So what superchargers are made for our 2003 models? I want a complete ready to bolt on kit, not a few parts here and there from various people. I'm very...
Check your engine mounts and exhaust pipes. If an exhaust pipe touches the floorboard you get immediate vibrations. If the engine mounts or tranny mount are worn out it'll let everything twist under a load and possibly hit the floor board.
I got the separator at Harbor Freight for about $10 on sale. It's just an air tool water separator/regulator. I took the top apart and removed the parts that regulate and restrict airflow, and I removed the stone filter. I used a few pipe to 3/8" hose fittings and mounted in series. The hardest...
My consumption had been about a quart every 800 miles. I can only imagine how long it's been like that and how much oil's been sucked through the intake system. It's got to be a total disaster inside my intake system. At least right now there's absolutely ZERO oil going through my intake.
I...
I've had an oil consumption problem since I bought this truck a few months ago. It's got 141,000 miles on it and looked as if it was poorly maintained. I changed the PCV valve with a factory Motorcraft unit, still consuming oil but never smokes. So since I had an oil separator on my Explorer, I...
Rod bearing knocks usually don't affect oil pressure. That could be the problem. The way I always check for a rod knock is by unplugging one spark plug at a time, if the noise doesn't go away then reconnect it and try the next cylinder. When you remove spark from the bad cylinder it will stop...
Mine just started with that shuttering last week. Each time it engages or disengages it feels like I'm going off the side of the highway and hitting the loud vibration strip.
At the same time the shuttering began, I also have an intermittent clattering that sounds like a cross between a tranny...
I have the SCT and I love it. I bought mine used and unlocked on ebay for $150 (vs $400 new). Then I had a custom tune made and emailed to me. I have the 93 power tune and a 93 economy tune. If I make some upgrades to the truck like exhaust or intake etc. then I can have a new custom tune made-...
I'm reading a lot of different posts showing all different "possible" LED bulbs that replace the stock ones on the exterior and interior. However my head is spinning from all the choices, and some people have had problems making them fit, some just aren't bright enough, and some aren't listed on...
I had a 350Z and it was parked next to my hangar where I work. We had a tornado that passed by closely, it destroyed 17 airplanes, 3 of them that were about 75 yards from my car. A huge tree that was nearby had been blown around a lot, and all the bark from it had plastered the side of my car...
Yeah that was my point exactly. I've seen it before and people tend to go overboard with worst case scenarios, and I fixed it by simply replacing the oil filter with a better one that has the anti-drainback valve.
On a side note, I changed my fuel filter a few weeks ago and when I restarted...
Just saw your post, sorry I didn't help yesterday. I've seen the gage sweep problem before and they always seem to fix it by replacing the battery. I think what happens there is this: the gauges work as long as voltage stays above a predetermined voltage like say 10.5 volts. When the battery...
Xcelplus
I did some research and Xcelplus is a pretty big company. It's the original Slick 50 formula from 1978...The partners of the company had split up and one partner owned the chemical formula, the other owned the "slick 50" name. Slick 50 suddenly was just a bunch of Teflon thrown into a...
I haven't tried Prolong but read a little about Zmax on Bobistheoilguy.com. Zmax seems to have some minerals that were removed from modern motor oils. I think they stopped using as much zinc(?) in modern oils because of non-pushrod style engines. So unless you have a cam/lifters style engine you...
Sounds great keep us updated. When looking at inverters, some of them have USB ports right next to the ac outlet. That might make things easier, or at least more options for adding usb ports throughout the truck. Those 4 port USB splitters are cheap and easy to mount.
Have you changed the fuel filter yet? How old are the O2 sensors? What brand and type of plugs are those? Are they definitely the proper heat range?
Just about every vehicle I've owned, I tried at least once installing platinum plugs because a new style had come out. Every time I installed...
In my experience it absolutely sucks if you go mudding and the axle sends power to only one front and one rear wheel. Those are the guys we always pull out, because they get stuck EVERYWHERE. If you're planning on going through any mud, get a limited slip front and rear. I don't know if the EXP...
-First thing I noticed is 5 of the plugs look like they're getting combustion blown up into the threads....maybe not torqued tight enough.
-The two top right look like they may have an injector problem from the dark soot shadow on the ceramic.
-Some of them look like they were too hot (bottom...
I did the GOTTS mod, no regrets. I'd much rather keep my stock intake and maybe paint it or add some chrome covering to it than to replace it with a $300 aftermarket. I don't like the aftermarkets because they're thin aluminum which very quickly conducts heat from under the hood to heat the air...
