Can someone tell me how to safely remove the gold EB trim panels on the doors and the fender flares? I want to keep them intact so that I can re-install them.
I think I have exhausted my search skills on this. What little I found on this topic was for 1st or 2nd gen models or other trucks...
Up for sale is a Cortex 1950 Ford programmer by Superchips. I am the original owner and it is VIN unlocked.
Price: $300 shipped +PayPal fees (retails for $379)
Reason for selling? Decided to go a different route with my truck.
Thanks for looking!
After a google search for the My Wireless system, several vendors sell the kit for under $300. The air compressor has nothing to do with the actual motion of the shocks, the compressor (and the adapters that attach to the shocks) turns the knob on the shock to the different settings (1-9). The...
Well I took a closer look at the Rancho option and don't think it is a viable one for me. The Rancho shocks/struts have a built in lift based on their design (the spring perch is higher than the spring perch on stock struts, thus giving the mild lift). I already have the leveling kit installed...
Now that is what I am talking about!! Unfortunately, I am not sure I can justify it based on how much I tow..... Why can't I have my cake and eat it too :Frustrated: !!!!!
Also, I took a quick look at their site and did not see any direct applications for 07+ Expeditions.......
Thanks for the tip, I will look into those.
I am actually not interested in getting the rake back. I just got rid of it and I like how the truck looks now. I don't tow enough to justify it, but I wouldn't mind having a set of springs/shocks that minimizes the drop when towing, if that is even...
Ok, good info. I will have to contact him to get specifics, but do you know off hand his costs for different tunes and if you can put multiple tunes on one storage device (ala Superchips and Hypertech programmers)?
Good point, my only concern with custom tunes is cost vs benefit, time and availability. I have dealt with tuning on my car and custom tunes are significantly more expensive than canned tunes in my experience. Maybe this is not the case with tuning Expeditions??
I liked the Cortex because...
Yeah, I was also thinking along those lines, but I didn't want it for looks when towing, but for function (i.e. better geometry and tounge weight control).
My truck has 75k miles on the clock (I bought it used with 24k miles on it) and after looking at a few threads about shocks, I started...
Actually, Superchips can't do item 4 on 07+ Expeditions apparently, which does not make any sense to me (and I found out after my purchase). I may end up getting the Hypertech in-line speedo correction module since I put bigger tires on my truck (295/70-18) and that is what I really want now...
I also have the Cortex 1950 now. Ron on the forum is the guy who told me they don't have a CAI tune for the Expedition.
And then when I told him I wanted to do what you are doing, which is to use the F-150 tune since it is the same engine (I also have a K&N intake) he told me it would not...
I thought Superchips had one for the F-150 with the same 5.4L engine that could be used on the Expedition. Unfortunately, that trick may have worked in the past, but Superchips (specifically the Cortex 1950) will not let you use the F-150 CAI tune on the Expeditions now.
Does Hypertech or...
Ok so here is my frustrating story.....
I have an 07 EB and decided to go with the Superchips Cortex 1950 because I thought it would do the following based on my research and pre purchase correspondence with Superchips:
1. Towing Performance Tune
2. Better Gas mileage tune (87 Octane)...
So I just got my 07 EL lifted with a 3/2 level kit (really pleased with the bigger tires and it looks better in person than the pics I saw on the forums!!!) but now have a suspension question. This is specific with regards to towing (which I am actually doing with my truck now).
With the...
Make sure you give the dip plenty of time to cure before you start to handle it to put it back inside the car. I did mine in 40 degree weather in northern Virginia. Being in FL, you may not want to touch it for at least 24 - 48 hrs just to be safe. The stuff is very durable (I just put my...
Thanks. I actually looked into getting a new grille, either painted black or an ABS OEM black one for a flat black look. However, when I noticed that the ABS OEM grille was not really black (it was actually more grey'ish) and that removing the grille from the truck was a serious PITA, dipping...
Here are a few pics of my "dipped" front chrome grille. This was the second part I dipped on the truck. It is the standard flat black dip that you can get at Home Depot (any other colors will have to be purchased on line). It was actually pretty easy and I probably spent more time with prep...
I will have to wait until this weekend to get you a pic of the front grille. I thought it turned out pretty well and better than I had expected. The dip is very versatile stuff.
Regarding the emblems, my concern is that if you dip them, there will be no contrast and they will look just a...
Just saw this thread and noticed your plasti-dip job. I actually did the same thing on the rear chrome emblem (my first plasti-dip attempt) and then the front chrome grill. I don't know what I will do about the emblems though. I think if I dip them black, you won't be able to see/read them...
Thanks, they are very helpful. Especially since my truck is almost exactly like yours (same color scheme and size)
BTW, did your truck come from the factory with auto running boards? I did not think that was an option on the EB variant.
