Hey "Stamp11127", just wanted to let you know I got the truck up and running. The starter Relay, Alternator, and one of the 175 megafuses were blown. Just cant understand how the meter is seeing a circut through the wires on OHMS with the hot disconnected, and not reading voltage through the same wire when i connect the hot terminal. when i checked the voltage i had it set on 200 and i put the red wire on the big wire stud. on the OLMS i had it on 200 also. the other setting are 2000k, 200k, 20k, then 2000, etc. i think it measures resistance through the wire in hundreds or thousands. like i say i have some understanding but...- bigwick70

I undone the hot terminal on the battery then checked all the connections from the alternator to the relay on OLMS and was getting a reading through all. Then i connected the hot back and tryed to get a reading from the post on the alternator and coundnt get one. not sure whats up with that...- bigwick70

well been kinda busy this week and not had much time for working on the truck but i did manage to swap out the relay for a new one. That was the problem with the ignition. It only blows when i hit the key. Am not sure if the alternator i putting out the wrong voltage, what should it be reading at the lugg on the alternator? Going right now to get a new relay and get the alternator tested... ill holler back and let you know how that goes.- bigwick70

If i am understanding the diagram and mechanics correct, (Just me thinking here and trying to understand), with the key switch not putting power to the starter and when i bridge over the starter relay and it does, it has to be a starter relay gone bad because it is the only mechanism that allows...- bigwick70

I think i know the two youre refering to. The two on the firewall i was talking about earlier, or actually there are three there, near the solenoid and battery, (Altenator Megafuse-175 amp), and (Alternator field minifuse-20 amp). I just went through the fuses under the dash and one was blown. it was #21, a 15 amp on the diagram, (Starter Relay, Junction Box Fuse #20). Thats what it says in the Owners manual. Ok i checked it from the hot post on the altenator and it read 0.07... Actually it was jumping around. It is reading everything from 3.5 to 7.5 jumping back and forth on the battery, at idle and half throttle. I noticed the anti theft is flickering too. Ok, i just went and checked the lead going to the fuse link that goes to the solenoid and was getting 0... Then i went to the other side that runs to the solenoid and it read 12.6, also the hot terminal reads 12.6 while it is running. 97 expedition missing bad
now I think the DPFE sensor is bad. I was looking at a test to see if it is god and the readings are off a bit (http://rockledge.home.comcast.net/~rockledge/RangerPictureGallery/DPFE-Voltage-Test.html). I think for the 5.4 the reading should be 1.0 volts ,but mine is reading 4.6 on 200m setting...- bigwick70

ok, found the culprit...You were right, it was a blown plug. Also I called advance and they didn't have the computer thingy on loan. I would have to bring it there so that was a "No Go"... I tried to re-insert the spark plug and it snugged up pretty tight, without stripping out, so i'm going to...- bigwick70
