Check under the passenger seat for a set of wires (there's 3 in my car). Wire has battery, ignition, and ground. Don't know what they were for. 2nd Cat converter got extremely hot from bad vacuum hoses causing the insulation on the wires to burn causing a direct short to ground and ensuing...
Well, got the trailer relay done. Just made 3 extension jumpers from the relay and then ran a temp wire back to my splices in driver kick panel. Hardest part was trying to find the right relay. I'm not sure which I'm going to do next, autolamps or front park lights. And I finally figured out...
Yep, that's what I got. No page numbers. I did find C201 and the line going to the rear is clear with the connector disconnected. Also found the line from Fuse 18 in the Junction Box Fuse/Relay panel to the dimmer switch good. Gundecked the connections so I have at least instrument panel...
Thanks for the replies. Already have the DVD, it's not exactly the best for my style of trouble shooting (Navy). Especially when it redirects you to a page number and the diagrams are listed differently (e.g. - Autolamps 087-001 with no page numbers but things on that page are noted as page 13-13)
Can anyone tell me exactly where Splice 224, Connector 158 or Connector 201 is on a 98 Expedition EB, 5.4 4wd? I have a dead short on the line and if I could find any of these, I could isolate it down to the bad section.
You might also check the alternator. I've seen the whine come in with a bad diode in the alternator causing some ripple that you are hearing, most prevalent in two-way mobile radios. You might check using an AC scale on your multimeter to check the AC ripple at the battery.
You might also try spraying with a lube (WD-40 etc) and using a grabber to get it out. Worked for me when then rubber insert from a spark plug socket came off in the hole.
First of all, it;s a 98 Expy 5.4. Got it fro my nephew about a year ago for $500.00 cuz the front passenger seat caught fire (no injuries). Cause of fire was the 1st cat passenger side. Replaced cat with straight pipe. Went to the local yankem place right down the street from me and got a new...
Front end alignment
Do it yourself. Use big Teflon baking pans under the front wheels to allow them to turn easily.

Just don't do like I did. I mounted my cellphone holder beneath the mirror. Didn't realize that it has a SMALL magnet to tell the phone to go into the car mode! Really drove me nuts because it wouldn't calibrate until I moved the phone holder. I was worried I would have to find the compass...
Some other things to watch for with the ELM units and Torque, sometimes it won't pair depending on what phone is used. Works great with my LG Lucid but NOT Motorola Droid X2!!! I think it is something with the bluetooth setup on the phone.
I use the ELM 327 with bluetooth. The trick with the bluetooth is to watch what you pair it with. Loves my Lucid LG but hates the Motorola Droid X2.
Had an interesting situation about two weeks ago with subzero temperatures. Intake temp. was showing -11.6° F but the transmission temp. was...
On my 98 Eddie Bauer (third hand) is a sticker labeled Ford Authorized Modifications listing "PCM Reprogram" and "F8PF-BA650-EFA", dealer 20666 dated 04-17-01. Would love to find out what the F8PF is and who dealer # 20666 is.
For the lag, check the vacuum lines off the PCV valve to the intake and around back by the firewall (REAL tight back there). Made a BIG difference by changing the soft rubber "connectors". As far as the door ajar chime, I use ZEP 45, found that WD-40 has an affinity to attract dirt...
Got the Excelvan ELM327 v1.5 Bluetooth Mini Small Interface OBD2 Scanner Adapter Torque Android through Amazon.com, cost $14.28, shipping $5.05 and matched it up with Torque Pro (OBD 2 & Car) by Ian Hawkins (not sure , think it was abt. $5.00). Works great on LG Lucid. My nephew ( a mechanic)...
Does your l;ight switch have a thumbwheel next to it labeled something like autolamp? If it does, that keeps your headlights on for a period of time after shutting off the ignition and lights and exiting the vehicle.
There is now another option. Our Lowes in town can now make a new key. With the only original key, they inserted the original key and read it, inserted the new blank and programmed it and then cut it. Talking to a locksmith, he said that what they are doing is cloning it with the same code as...
