FOR THE 2003 & 2004.... IS THE FUEL PUMP RELAY UNSERVICABLE?

Have read old posts, and it seems the fuel relay is not plug & play. Is this true? I see quite a few members have purchased the complete fuse box when in need of a new fuel pump relay.

    FYI - 2004 EXPEDITION XLS 4.6 - VROOM PRICE $2,696

Nearing 90 (May) having difficulty with in-out due to severe arthritis, so searched for sale price. Vroom quoted $2696 for my 2004 Expedition XLS 4.6 in great condition with 19,717 miles, bought new. Now, average yearly miles 200. Guess I will just have to endure the hardship of in-out. NOT...

    GEAR RATIO (?)

2004 XLS (Flintstone options) 4.9 eng. Have read with interest about various gear ratios and mileage. Window sticker does not note gear ratio. Besides counting gear teeth, where might I find my gear ratio? Have a towing package III (never tow anything). Does the towing package provide a gear...

    RUST....WHY?

For many (30+) years, the only vehicles I owned were GM, and experienced zero rust problems. Since I bought into Ford (2004 Expy) (2006 Mustang) supporting a salesman friend, I have experienced rust in both vehicles. As a member of the Corvette Forum, I read many threads that labled the Mustang...

    FRONT END NOISE

2004 4.6 18500 miles. I'm crippled, so I'm just looking for help prior to going to a shop. I can only view the engine bay. On a flat surface, no noise. Entering/leaving from a slight dip in the road, I hear a rubbing sound that disapates immediately when returning to a flat surface. Noise...

    MPG ?

2004 4.6 Float sensor must have failed, as the fuel gage is not accurate. Going to use trip mileage as an indicator of fuel level. Is using 10 MPG a conservative number to estimate fuel usage? EXP is only driven for local errands. I was thinking of refueling when the trip odometer read 130...

    FUEL TANK CALIBRATION

Online search did not provide a definitive answer. Anyone know approximate fuel amounts per line graduations on fuel gage? Are there more gallons in the top half of the gage, or more in the bottom? I'm suspecting more gallons are in the top half, and indicated fuel consumption accelerates...

Crank, no start. @10 minutes - reset(?) - starts, runs fine.

2004 XLS 4.6 --- 2nd event in 2 months. Drove the xp in the AM - all good. Shopped at Costco - no start to return home. Prior event I was in shock to notice any dash info. This time I had my senses - no security flashing, but still tried another key. Still no start. Fuel gage slightly...

    Crank, no start.

Fuel safety switch not activated. After about 30 minutes, started up, and has been fine for about 6 days. I'm led to believe that my ignition key chip was not 'connecting' with the computer, and finally reset (?) Will a substitute key work immediately, or does the computer need time to reset...
