Allegedly, the phasers were replaced / timing job done right before I purchased it from a small town lot here in IL. Of course I find out after the fact they were known for tossing in used parts if they could, rather than new China parts even. So, it was half assed at best I’m sure. Oz ‘05...- Ozzy

Just for the record, The known things that preceded the issue, and the after: I replaced a faulty VCT solenoid a few weeks ago. Those were both replaced about a year and a half ago, bank 2 went bad a while back and caused occasional timing error codes, and had a pretty decent oil leak. Since...- Ozzy

Things to check: Is the EGR tube clear, no blockage? Is there a vacuum leak? Check the DFP sensor voltage. It can throw the 401. Oz ‘05 Expedition EB, 5.4 3v- Ozzy

Is it just snake oil or does the stuff work !?
I seem to recall a video done by Fordtechmakuloco that dealt with a phantom misfire, where #8 misfire was actually caused by #1 or vice versa. I tried a quick search but didn’t find that particular video. I did see one that wound up being #4 misfire caused by bad seating of injector #4. Just...- Ozzy

ECU's Clearing
For clearing codes, I usually use a cheap ODBII device or FORScan, provided I’ve corrected the issues. The procedure you described will clear the PCM and you’ll have to relearn its functions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- Ozzy

Forscan does work on at least some smart phones via a Bluetooth ODB dongle. I’ve not used it so I can’t tell you how well or how complex the phone versions are compared to a laptop, which is what I use with a hardwire dongle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk- Ozzy

Agreed. FORScan is a lifesaver. I have saved so much $ using it and doing the work myself. Fordmakuloco is the one you’re thinking of. And yeh he did at least one on the front blend actuator, but unfortunately his deals with single blend door, not dual climate controls ones. Those, the driver side actuator appears to be under the whole mess, not on top like the singles or passenger...- Ozzy

Key fob replacement.
I can’t speak for alternative replacements, but I had that issue on my 05. Key ring part broke but the FOB still works. I had an old one lying around from an 02 Explorer, and I was able to program it in no problem. It lacks the lift glass button, but I never used that much anyway so no loss...- Ozzy

Fm radio reception - not great always
The fixes mentioned here are probably best option. The antenna, in mine anyway, is located in the passenger side rear window. I have that same issue particularly when a big rig is being passed on my passenger side. Mine has the dealer installed SiriusXM radio so that’s my usual go to, although...- Ozzy
