    AWD Mode

I've experienced the clutch delay in the Commander, but the Exp keeps the front wheels locked in with a pretty high barrier to disconnect them. Any slip and they are quickly re-engaged. To answer you other question the Exp is outstanding in ice and snow, dependent on tires.

    Tread Pictures (22")

I've been running Yoko Geolander G015's on my Commander for almost 10 years. Great on-road behavior and I haven't been able to get stuck when I have ventured out a little. Ice/snow performance is behind dedicated winter tires, but it still does the job quite well. Also, I literally cannot make...

    AWD Mode

Depending on the mode you select, the computer will actually disconnect the front axle if it doesn't sense that you need it. Watch your Off Road Power Distribution screen when just driving around normally in 4A.

Well, that explains a lot…. Get a carfax

Through a series of government mishandlings (or maybe just one), I have a clean and clear title for my second vehicle that was totaled by a rear-end collision. It's actually my main commuter.

    Transfer Case Whining

What is their reasoning the Tcase is on it's last legs? Unless 4A was used for thousands of miles with tires in that condition I doubt that's the case. Also, depending where the tire is the open diff will likely make up a lot of the slack anyway. Otherwise, it is generally not recommended to...

    Snow Beast

Just to give anyone a quick comparison - With the stock tires on the Expy our Commander runs circles around the Expy in the snow. The Commander has worn-out (down to the wear bars) Yokohama Geolanders on it. The Expy has 5k on brand new Hankooks. 4wd helps, but tires make all the difference.

Brand New - 4wd Burning Smell

I've done almost all of my own service and repair up until this Expy, so I'm familiar with what the oil looks like going in. I definitely should have left with that sample, though. It's warranteed until 100k Bumper-bumper, so if I loose a diff between now and then even without a fluid change...

Brand New - 4wd Burning Smell

That's a great idea about taking a pic. I'll have to remember that. I assumed it would make sense for the computer to log it. I was able to find the album setting to make it visible. Can you see it now?

Issues with just purchased 2018 Limited

Do you have and eLSD? I'm fairly convinced my issue was coming from the rear diff when it locks up.

Brand New - 4wd Burning Smell

Quick update for anybody still interested. Red had a service appointment yesterday. I have noticed that this burning smell happens only when the rear diff locks - I've spun the rear tires on ice in 2WD and smelled it right after. I also drove to the dealership in 4A and got a rear diff overheat...

Pissed over new aluminum wheels in winter

I've only ever heard of aftermarket wheels not having clearcoat, and maybe a few "high polish" wheels. This is definitely not the norm.

Pissed over new aluminum wheels in winter

If you use metal polish on these - Does your cloth turn black? That would mean the wheels are not clearcoated as they should be.

Ok, Confess. Which One of You is it at 18:30...?

I've done similar in the Jeep Commander with fresh A/T rated for snow, but honestly I don't think I would ever attempt it in the red tank.

I have this same issue and posted about it two days ago on a 2020 Platinum. Please keep us updated on this one as well.

Brand New - 4wd Burning Smell

Absolutely. Lets see if this works. I didn't feel like driving up on blocks so here's the best I could do with a cell phone and utility light. Keep in mind - 4 months old, 2200 miles. Editing so I'm not doxxing myself. Driver's side Drivers Side by Aerogt01 posted Dec 31, 2020 at 10:35 AM...

Brand New - 4wd Burning Smell

Yeah, that's gonna happen. I was just hoping someone had heard of this before. My luck I'd have problems on a brand new vehicle.

Brand New - 4wd Burning Smell

I just purchased a 2020 Expedition in August, and right now it has about 2200 miles. I've used 4wd about three times for snowy roads (all low speed) and every time after just a couple of minutes a clutch/gear oil burning smell enters the cabin. Originally I thought this was just part of...
