I was tracking down a parasitic drain on my battery and found it to be fuse #103 in the under hood fuse box. I pulled the fuse, then reinstalled, fuse box smoked, I freaked and shut it off,now it starts fine but immediately dies unless i constantly give it gas
the fuse itself seemed fine,it was just pulling 1.5 Amps on that circuit with everything shut off.
what have i done? clueless where to even begin?gotta be fuel related right?

Fuse #103 is junction box battery feed. Sounds like a cable somewhere has one ****** of a dead short. I'd start up around the battery cables, and move around from there. You gotta hot wire with insulation touching somewhere. Weird thing is what caused your problem by reinstalling same fuse, same direction. It should be pretty obvious when you find it.

That fuse is battery fuse to fuse box. I'd disconnect battery if you haven't already, and look at fuse box itself first. Was some aftermarket item tapped in for power recently? Most drains, and shorts usually lead back to them, Ie, stereo, cameras, etc.

no new accessories added, but the battery drain issue has been going on for years. what should I be looking for in the fuse box? no fuses appear blown,no obviously burnt wires.since it fires up and everything runs as normal other than shutting off without gas....doesn't that indicate something electrical happened to the fuel system?
the battery drain issue I can live with,it's my weekend, take the trash, pull the boat vehicle.....the dying out thing, that's a problem.

I wish I could tell you where your short is. But that's where your going to have to play detective. The fact that the 50 amp maxi fuse caused smoking, tells me something is either touching bare metal, or maybe your gem or other module is shorted bad. You'll have to unplug items, and poke around. Wish I had a Crystal ball, but your in Virginia, I'm in San Francisco. You did reseal your windshield as I'm sure you know the havoc the water causes dripping inside the gem, and inside fuse box. You mentioned you had a 1 1/2 amp draw. That's huge. One of the others here will chime in soon, that knows more than I.

Pull each fuse 1 by 1 if the draw still there put back and move on to the next one until you find the one with the draw. This should get you closer to finding the problem. Sorry just re read your post and saw you have done this and got to fuse103. I still think that checking 1 by 1 again can get you closer to the problem than the junction box feed since you said all looks good there.
