anoyone know if you can change out the clutch and pulley of the compressor instead of changing out the whole compressor? when a/c is off the clutch shakes and rotates slowly . so I am running the a/c all the time so it doesn't make the noise . afraid it will lock up.

where you able to change to clutch pulley? I been to 5 shops all said the same thing, the compressor has to be changed. I have had estimates from 600-800 to fix this. My exp is a 2004 with 150K miles and I dont see spending 800 on it. Does anyone know if you can just use a smaller belt? The a/c works but its almost winter and I dont feel like running it all winter long just because of a pulley.

You can replace the clutch, but you have to remove the compressor to do it. . The guy at the shop is doin you a favor by doing the whole compressor... if your clutch is going out the compressor is right behind it. If you only do the clutch you will be doing a compressor later

Problem is my truck has 150K miles on it, both rockers are rusting, and I have rust in the rear quarter (live in NJ). I really don't want to put the money into a truck I used to carry crap in. I wish they made a a/c compressor delete because I would just do that. I have not found one and I have not found any one that put a smaller belt on either.
