The short version is
All sorts of electrical issues only with the interior lights not coming on when the door is open, accessory delay not working , advance trac warning and a leaky windshield .
I'm having the windshield resealed tomorrow .
So after all the trouble shooting and reading I've done I'm pretty sure it's the gem .
The everything happened pretty much all at once.
First I noticed the water intrusion and about a week later the electrical fun began.
I'm just wondering if I can purchase a used one and what vehicles can be a donor.
Is it a direct swap or do I need reprogramming?

If you have a shoe rack for your clothes drier you could try "drying" the GEM out on a low setting for an hour or two. The temp used to solder the components is considerably higher so there isn't an issue with the heat.

Just a curious question

How are you going to replace the GEM when the 2003 expedition DOESN'T have a GEM module. The GEM's were only in the first generation Expys

Ok
Well as I've stated new to these issues and symptoms pointed to the what I thought was the gem.
Do you have any actual input ?

Need to know what all of the issues are. In as much detail that you can give.

How good are your electrical troubleshooting skills?

Can you read and understand electrical diagrams?

Which side of the expy was leaking water?

Remove the front kick panels on both sides and look at the ground connections for any signs of rust or if any of the grounds have broken off. This issue has been well documented here on the forum

The grounds are all good
The problem I'm having is the radio is staying on when the ignition is on the off position.
My dome lights and puddle lights do not come on with the doors open
But will come on with the switch on.
I also just noticed the "door ajar" light does not come on at all.
And my auto headlights do not work
The water leak was on the drivers side .
And I think I narrowed it down to the sunroof drains so I'll be checking on that tomorrow .
Fuses and relays are good .
I'm gonna look up a diagram for the door switch wiring and go from there.
Again any help is appreciated.

lets look at the radio problem first Try pulling fuse #22 and see if the radio goes off.

If it does then reinstall the fuse and see if it comes back on.

If the radio comes back on after you do the above then remove the Accessory delay
relay and using a ohm meter check to see if you have continuity between pin 30 and 87

Post the results

what happened when you removed the Accessory Delay Relay
I wanted for you to read continuity (OHM's) across pin 87 and pin 30 of the relay

ok with the relay removed the reading you should have with an Ohm meter across pins 87and pin 30 should have been no reading as that is a normally open relay and the contacts would only close when power is applied to the coil

try replacing the relay with another relay and see what happens

you state that the radio stays on when the key is removed.

Do the windows operate also when the key is removed and the radio is on

That was the answer I expected but really didn't want to hear I will be attaching a test procedure for you to do. Read it first and asks any questions if you need to. Also if you need prints let me know

Page 37 and 38 is the test you need to do

Print 150-26 is the C220b connector

print 100-02 is the power window circuit

Print 130-02 is the radio circuit.

You will see on both prints the coil for the delay relay and they both go to the Instrument cluster to pin 5 of C220b That is keeping the delay relay energized and most likely the cause of the radio and windows working after the key has bee removed
