First some background, The city i live in rarely plows side streets. We have had 10" of snow in the last 4 days so the roads are a bit rutted and deep. I have found the A4WD position worthless as **** on a boar. If the back tires start to slip, BAM! into 4X4 it goes! No cushioning affect at all so i don't use that selection. In 4WD High it goes right through the snow but it does something i have never seen in any of my previous 10 4X4 trucks AND our 92 Explorer.
Go around a corner and give it a little gas and out the azz end comes from under me!! Scared the chit out of me the 1st time! It almost seems like the back end is pulling stronger than the front end!!!

I would suppose a lot of it has to do with the new tires the dealer put on. They are Hankook 265/70 17's Is there a narrow pizza cutter type tire i can put on this thing??? Wide tires SUCK in the snow!! Even with these wide tires the rear shouldn't break loose going around a corner though. I sure miss the days of manual locking hubs and a 4x4 lever on the floor. You never know if this new stuff is working like it should!!

that's weird... if you put in 4x4 and drive it on dry pavement (slowly.....LOL) does it feel like it is fighting itself.

I loved doing 4 wheel drifts in the snow when I lived in Chicago.... The neighbors thouht I was nuts...

It goes straight through the snow great. You can tell all 4 are spinning. It just likes to walk on ya when you go around the corner. I really dislike the AWD setting and told the wife NOT to use it. I could see it tossing a person in the ditch easily. I am going to take it in and get the tires sipped today to see if that helps..........
