I had dynamat installed throughout the interior about 9 years ago. They had some left over and wanted to know if I wanted to use it under the hood, to help with engine noise. After they installed it they reported back that they could not get the factory hood insulator attached back to the hood due to not enough clearance after installing the dynamat to the hood (not enough clearance to both re-attach the insulator and/or to close the hood). I told them not to worry about it, figuring the mat would provide enough protection. Fast forward roughly a decade and the engine heat is cooking the paint from under the clear coat. The metallic brown now looks more gray. I plan to have the hood repainted but want to prevent it from happening again. I found the hood insulator part online for a little over $100. But before I pull that trigger I wanted to see if there were any other options. Ones that maybe would also allow me to keep the noise dampening benefits but still protect the paint.

Thanks in advance!
