Just bought an 05' XLT with 101,000 miles.

I have a 2000 Eddie Bauer Exploder that had some serious timing chain issues. Meanwhile I am waiting for time to pull the engine so I picked up the expe.

My questions from you experts;

I am still in college so on a budget, what are the best ways to avoid a lot of the common issues this 5.4 Triton has?

Seems like spark plug issues are common.

Hi, I'm not an expert but have some experience with Ford trucks. 1st thing I always do after a purchase of used truck is to replace all the fluids. Oils etc. Then check on all under joints like tie rods, balljoints etc. Don't forget the drive belt. Plugs and fuel filter you have check them too and see if you need to change it. By doing all these you are avoiding a major repairs. These are all preventive maintenance. IMHO I hope did help you. Good day!
