Shifter delivered today. It has the same broken plastic de tent as my original. Two part epoxy for abs plastic, jb weld, or PC-7?

We’ll see if it holds. I’ll have to shape it and fill a hole for the spring to slip through. I decided the plastic allowed to wobble on the spring let it bind and crack. I pushed the jb plastic weld into that cavity and after it cured I’ll drill a hole so the spring will be inside a tube instead of just the pin hole.

That didn’t work. I went plastic weld paste so it would hold together while it cures. But I couldn’t tell if I had the two pieces matted together fully. Yep, it’s off just enough the shift de tents don’t match the actual shifter position. I’ve the original to try again but with clear two part epoxy.

So I just dropped the pan. I’m surprised there isn’t more metal on the magnet. Trans color though dark is still somewhat red.

So could this be just torque converter failure???

I’ve been searching for a good used transmission. I finally found one from an 08 RWD Expedition like mine and with the exact same part code sticker of 8L1P 7000 AB A1 as the transmission in my Expedition. 124k mile, claims tested good with a 6 month warranty.
Does the 08 already have the upgraded bulkhead sleeve O Rings and pump shaft seal or should I go ahead and change them? Seems pump seal is a common failure and I think that’s what happened to my original. Looks like fluid dumped out the front and it has a loud torque convert or pump whine.

I would change the bulkhead sleeve/orings and pump shaft seal while you have the new/used trans out of the truck. The upgraded bulkhead sleeve uses BLACK O-rings, where as the original used ORANGE., It can be found under part number 6L2Z-7G276-AA

You're welcome, I sell them often! (Ford parts guy)
Even though money is very tight for me, I’m of the mind it’s better to do preventative maintenance and especially when it’s easier having the transmission out on a bench. I’m very interested in doing any and all part replacement involving ones with known failures and upgraded design parts are available. I’ve seen that the gray auto parts store pump shaft seals fail and to use the black Ford seal only. Also a Ford tech said some were putting a second magnet in the pain because of metal debris working it’s way into the solenoid connectors shorting contacts and setting codes. One video I watched was for 2011 and up 6R80. I don’t know which of the upgrades on that one should be done to an 08. Any other part numbers I should get?
