1"-1.5" rear spacers

i'm debating on putting some 1"-1.5" spacers in the rear. i like that little bit of ass high rake. my question is i've lifted plenty of leaf sprung trucks but i'm clueless when it comes to coils. on a 0-10 scale how hard is it?

i consider myself pretty mechanistically inclined, i do all my own work besides ball joints and trannys. otherwise i have more tools in the garage then i could ever use and a decent compressor with all the air tools.

they look simple but i'm a bit intimidated just because i've never done it. but then again i was the same way before my first axle swap lol

i know alot of ya'll run them so any tips on install would be great

On a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 2.5 (pretty stinkin' easy). Just remember to disconnect your sway bar end links and you might need to take one side of your track bar loose. I had everything on my rear end torn apart to put in poly bushings when I did my spacers and it took me about 2 hours. Just doing the spacers I would guess it will take about 30-45 minutes. I also put them on top of the coil instead of under, some will say it doesn't matter but I think it is more secure there instead of underneath, JMHO.

thanks! i did crawl under there yesterday and took a look. i thought up top looked better also. luckily no rust issues here(gotta love no salt) so everything should come apart easy. so i guess that just leaves me to order and install.

for some reason i always get allittle nervous before something i've never done. even though i've done much harder projects at work and home lol

Yeah easy job ,put them on top like JD said should take less than an Hour.

do exactly as he said. undoing the sway bar is the key. i mean even NCexpy did his. haha just use a bottle jack and put it between the axle and body or frame. and start jacking till theres plenty of room to put the spacer in. and WALA your good to go.

i was planning on doing it more like this panda seems safer lol this is when i did my lift blocks in the rear of the excursion.

yeah you should do them but go with a bigger spacer... come on your in AK remember "you can cut Alaska in half and make Texas the 3rd biggest state"... so go big or go home...lol

i would go bigger but i'm not lifting the front at all so i dont want it to be crazy high in the back. thats why im thinking 1.5".

all my other trucks have some lift on them, im trying to keep this one as close to stock as possible height wise. keeping the ride nice and smooth and decent mpgs.

2" spacer and do a TT for about 1"... then when you park next to another stock expy you will notice it just a little bit.. not gonna kill the MPG or ride.... but make it look nice..

i've done the torsion twist on my explorer, i dont do it on the expy i dont want to stiffen it up at all. front is gonna stay where it is. mine already sits a tad higher..just a tad then other stock expys. not sure why, most sag in the ass mine doesnt. plus i have 265s instead of stock 255s.

So what would be the proper jacking technique for this? Can they be installed without disconnecting the sway bar links and track bar?

keep it on level ground. take a bottle jack and stick it inbetween the axle and frame or body. and start jacking. you might get lucky and be able to stick inbetween the coil and body, but you may have to to disconnect the sway bar. if you do, not a big deal. just torque it to spec when your done. just undo one side. that might be all you need to do.
