I found this system online for $465 on sale. Is this a good deal/worth the money? It is a SS system with 3" pipe and 4" tip. Thanks for input.

The price for that on perfomancepeddler.com is $462.62, shipped. You have to email an offer to them. You'll get an email in 5 mins with the above offer. I offered 300 as a test, and that is what they sent.

+1 for local shops usually a lot cheaper and flowmasters rock... I am running true duals with flowmaster 40s and love it... but IMO there is no need for 3" pipe 2.5" is plenty good and you wont feel any difference... except in the wallet since 2.5" is cheaper

I have an 03 and i was planning to put magnaflow catback on it .
You say to try a local shop ( like Midus mufflers) and go with a 2.5 pipe instead of a 3" pipe( with flowmaster muffler). If I buy a cat back from ebay, they all have 3" pipe. But 2.5 will do??? Which muffler should I go With?? I don't want it to loud at highway speed (without drone) yet if i step on it, I want to hear It!!!
thanks

I put a 3" MagnaFlow cat-back sytem on my wife's '98 5.4 4x2 Expedition. It was the system recommended by MagnaFLow for an SUV because of improved towing and less interior resonance than some other systems. HA!.
The guys on the second floor where she worked, knew when she entered the parking lot. You've really got to like hearing your truck.

I'm partial to flowmasters... used to be only straight piped but now married with a kid needed a lil quieter... do a search of youtube for videos with exhaust will give you some ideas... but for shops best thing to do is call around often a custom exhaust will be cheaper than a name brand..

and 2.5" pipe will be plenty... just get a free flowing muffler... really unless you build a crazy motor there is no need for 3"... IMOI have always run 2.5" pipe and no probs at all

i have a 3" from the y pipe to tail. thats plenty for single. 3" for duals is a little over kill. it dosent allow enough back pressure. so ive read. idk. and get it custom made. you can make anything fit that way.

What I bought was a 3" single pipe system - which is not overkill for a single exhaust, but would be for duals unless you're making over 400 HP.

i agree with looking on youtube. check different types like magnaflow, flowmaster, borla, spintech, etc. probably wont give you an accurate sound but will at least give you an idea.

Gibson exhausts

On my wife's Safari van that we traded in for the Expedition, I had a Gibson exhaust on it and it had a sweet tone and I could feel some more power.

I would stay away from Flowmasters, but that because I'm having a bad experience with them now. Mine is very hollow sounding and tinny up in the higher rpm's. Sound like s*** at certain rpm's, but does sound good at idle and low rpm's. If I do it again I'm going with Magnaflow.

i have that exact catback from magnaflow and i like it. gives it a nice rumble but not to the point of being too annoying pretty easy install too just watch out for the bend that goes over the back axel gettin that part to fit right was a pain and i had to chop the old pipe in a couple places just to get it out

I stayed with the 2.5" pipe but cut out the factory Y and installed the Flowmaster 524703 it is the 70 series so not really loud but still sounds good. By putting this in and getting rid of that Y I picked up 100 miles to the tank (but only if I can keep my foot out of it, which can be hard because it sounds good :D ) The Flowmaster 524703 is a dual 2.25 in and a single 3 out really helped my 5.4 with power while towing as well. The best part it only cost me $175 for the muffler and pipe plus the spindle nut to use as an o2 sensor bung, a 12 pack and a few of hours with a buddy and a mig welder :D I also got rid of the resonator in the back with the left over pipe, it sounds great and you barley even notice it while on the interstate ( our speed limit here is 75 and I am turnin 2200 rpm my wife and daughter have no complaints)
