Hey everyone, I have a simple question: Is swapping a 5.0 on the 1st gen expedition possible? I would like to swap out the Triton 5.4 for a 302 or even a Chevrolet 350? I'm not looking to do any performance modifications, I would do it for the reliability. any and all ideas or suggestions is greatly appreciated thanks Patrick.

If I were here, you would know it !
Possible ? Perhaps...

A good idea ? Not really, especially not for a 302 (not enough oomph for that old tank) or Chevy 350 (which will require massive alterations to the motor mounts, frame geometry, the transmission & drive train) !

HOWEVER... IF you have the time, expertise, AND THE MONEY, then do as Rocky said to Clubber Lang: "Go for it" :)

If I was Ford, with so many old Generations around, I would provide an update engine and transmission..I think it would be popular..
Yes, if you have the expertise, do it if the body is worth keeping it going..

Around here the they are swapping GM 6.0L junkyard engines and GM tranny’s in older Ford vans, trucks SUVs etc, redoing the wiring harness and making them 4x4 and everything else. The GM 6.0l is cheap and plentiful to be had same as a 4L80 straight from the junk yard. They also add sloppy cams and valve springs, remap the ECU and then give it a burn out.
One guy around here Is driving an older Hummer H3 with a Toyota 4 banger diesel!
This is more out of $$$ reasons, because a new 5.0L Ford swap in cost lots more. Also the parts for the GM are cheaper.
